Editorial review from Citysearch 8/22/2012

I visit Boston frequently and have been coming here since at least 2000. Everything (location, instructors, schedule) about this place is great except for the mats for mat classes -- dirty! We were wiping them down after class and our white washcloths were coming up gray/dark gray. This place is high-end and they should figure out a way to keep them clean, or at least cleaner. more

Best Pilates Around 5/19/2010

Boston Body is the Best Pilates studio in New England. I travel for work and every time I am in the Boston Area I visit Boston Body for some classes. Every class I have been in - morning, noon or night has been such a great workout. All of the instructors are fantastic and they make working out fun. The studio is brand new with all new equipment. The classes are much smaller then at a gym and you get so much personal attention. If you are looking for a great workout- check out Boston Body! Pros: Great Classes, 4 Locations, Friendly Staff, Awesome Workout more

Great Customer Service Experience 11/20/2009

I recentley came to your Newbury St., Boston location and right from the start knew this was what I was looking for. Mallory worked with me to select the right programs for me and I was really impressed by how much she cared about me being happy and feeling at home. I have recentley relocated from New York and have been looking for months for a studio where I felt comfortable. The people male all the difference. Pros: Awesome, friendly atmosphere & people who care Cons: Its all good more

boston body changed my body 10/11/2009

Working out at Boston Body has completely changed my body. A co-worker introduced me to Boston Body Pilates on Newbury Street. I was feeling down about my body and even though I wasn't gaining weight my clothes kept fitting me tighter. I had never tried Pilates before and was nervous. But from my first class the instructors made me feel so comfortable. They helped me understand the right way to do the exercises and every week I could feel my body getting stronger. It is hard for me to remember how bad I felt a few months ago. And my body is more toned than it was in my 20's when I was hitting the elliptical and weights 5 days a week. I've also made a few friends at Boston Body. Everyone is so nice. Now when I see a new person I go out of my way to make them feel good so that they will feel as good as I do. Pros: great people great classes Cons: i want to go every day! more

Great instructors, great people. 8/9/2008

I have been taking Pilates for 8 years all over the country. I will tell you that Sharon Barry is one of my most favorite teachers. Sharon is demanding but a lot of fun to take with, she was the excitement at the end of my day. I highly highly recommend going to Boston Body and make sure you take from Sharon. Pros: Great Instructors, great energy, great area of the city. Cons: Pilates is expensive but well worth it!!!! more

I hate to excercise, but I love Boston Body!!! 8/8/2008

I am SOOO not an athlete, but Boston Body is great - fun, not itimidating, and a great workout. Sharon, in particular is FABULOUS - a great trainer - she really knows her stuff - most importantly, knows how to adapt the session to your individual needs and skill-level. Pros: Location Cons: closed on Sundays, website does not allow you to cancel, reschedule FUTURE appts. - only make new ones (not cool) more

The best Pilates in Boston 7/18/2008

I just visited Boston from Manhattan where I take Pilates at a top studio there. The concierge at my hotel recommended Boston Body and I went there for two equipment classes. I loved everything about it. The atmosphere is so small and no attitude from anyone-other clients or staff. The classes were better than my regular classes-great instructor. I got alot out of the classes-definitely recommend to anyone and will come back next time I am in Boston. Pros: best pilates classes i have taken Cons: not open on sundays more

small but worth it!! 5/3/2008

I hated the thought of just lying there on the floor and stretching. It seemed so boring. I was offered a chance to go to my first pilates class at Boston Body on Newbury.... I love it.! It is a small studio but so inviting It is very clean and smelled wonderful. The staff are the most humble and experienced I have seen in the work out world in a long time. I have found a new avenue to work my body it is Pilates at BOSTON BODY. Thanks for the opportunity Kathryn you ROCK!!!! more

best pilates teachers in boston 5/1/2008

I just started getting serious about pilates a month ago and the mat and group equipment classes at Boston Body are unbeatable. They make you feel right at home, pay special attention if you have any injuries or health concerns, and make the classes a lot of fun after a long stressful day. The teachers are outstanding - Cathrine, Renee and Arnold are by far the best part about this studio. They are extremely fun to work with, give each student their undivided attention, and focus on all the right areas to get you looking and feeling your best. Pros: teachers, class options, class times, equipment Cons: parking more

The Best 2/23/2008

I've been doing Pilates for years and tried just about every studio and trainer in the city. Boston Body has the coolest atmosphere and has the best instructors, hands down. Sharon is one of the most experienced trainers in town and pushes you to the limit. Between her, Jonathan and Kathryn, you couldn't find a better place to work out and I nominate Sharon for Improper Bostonian's trainer of the year! I don't know what the negative reviews are about, but they are definitely out dated. If you haven't tried Boston Body lately, it's definately time to. more

Experienced instructors 4/14/2007

I've taken several classes here and have really enjoyed the experience. The instructors here are really good - they give very clear explanations on each movement - especially Kathryn. The atmosphere is very friendly and the staff knows all of the students on a first name basis. I've noticed marked improvements in my form even after just a few classes! And I disagree on the comments regarding pricing and sales pressure. more

Over priced for nothing 2/27/2007

This studio is basically the same as other studio's around town but significantly more expensive and offers nothing to justify that other than the Newbury address. The staff (owner) also is constantly in sales mode trying to get you to buy more expensive private lessons. Stay away from this studio - you're better off trying others. Cons: Expensive, arrogant atmosphere more

rout corrections 4/20/2006

I've only taken one class here but I'm quite experienced and felt like the instructor wasn't looking at my specific needs. more

I love Pilates 6/3/2005

I started doing Pilates at Boston Body two months ago. I did three private sessions and now I've been doing the semi-privates on the Pilates machines. My whole body feels a lot better and more toned. Especially my stomach which is flatter. I recommend Boston Body because it's small and they know everyone here. I had been to some other Pilates studios and they are a lot nicer here. They push you, but don't make you feel like a wimp if you can't do all the exercises. I wish I could do more private lessons but can't afford it. But the semi-privates seem pretty personalized and I'm enjoying it. I never want to stop doing Pilates. I can't wait until my stomach gets flat. Pros: great teachers, great location, tough workouts Cons: pilates is expensive more
