This was by far the worst experience ever at a doctor's office. The office staff was rude (except for the lady who took my vitals and at the end gave me the information I needed to get to a lab). When I called to complain about an incident with the person who was supposed to be referring me to specialists, the office manager was even worse, more obnoxious and nasty than the office staff. To give you an example of how ludicrous this place is - they had a sign on the window stating to ring the bell for service. I rang it but no one answered. I opened the window and asked if they heard the bell. The woman at the front desk practically rolled her eyes and told me they didn't have a bell. I then questioned why they do not take down the sign that says to ring a bell. This makes perfect sense to me however, not to the geniuses there. From that point on I had to deal with attitude and snooty remarks as if I was not there. When I left, the staff member responsible for the referrals told me they would be ready in a week. I advised my previous doctor's offices took care of them on the spot and there was ONLY 1 other patient there. I have a condition that requires specialized care and needed to get that referral sooner than a week. I called to speak with the office manager because the comments form they gave stated we could call. I called and dealt with the most unprofessional, obnoxious and straight up rude individual I have ever encountered. I can expect that in any other setting but in a Doctor's office? She told me if I didn't like their policy or their attitude just go somewhere else. I did and I am making sure people who bother to look up doctor's office reviews know what I had to deal with and what they can expect. Oh by the way, the office manager at Aventura is the same one as the Miami Beach office -that is what I was told when I tried to see if I could speak with the manager there. By far the most idiotic way to lose a business is by treating your customers like dirt. I cannot say anything about Dr. Horowitz because my encounter with him was less than 20 minutes which is about average and all I needed were referrals. I told the office manager I did not care to go there again. They better not charge me the $25 fee for not going to their appointment or they will be hit with more bad reviews and BBB complaints PLUS an additional complaint with my insurance company. more

I don't usually write reviews on anything but I figured if I can help someone avoid the hardships I have gone through, I should. The people who work in this office can only be described as mean and uncaring. I have gone to the office twice, both times the doctors were with me for all of about 2 minutes (after waiting about 2 hours). I had no time to even explain my problems to them before they sent me off saying they would refer me to someone else. When I went to the specialist they advised I go to and felt very uncomfortable with him, I researched other specialists, and asked them to refer me to the one I picked, which they refused to do claiming they only referred to this one specific doctor (I found out from the insurance company that this is illegal for them to do, and filed a complaint). I then became pregnant so began to see my midwife, who under my insurance is considered a specialist, I didn't realize this until recently (my 7th month). In order for my midwife to get paid, I need a referral from my pcp to go to her. I called the doctors office, and they flat out refused to give a referral to a birthing center, claiming that they never refer to ob/gyns or midwives (which by the way is also illegal). My midwife tried to call them an they were nasty to her and again refused. I called the insurance company who told me they have to refer me and filed another complaint against the doctors office for refusal of service. If the doctors were amazing, sweet and caring, maybe having to deal with the obnoxious office staff would be worth it, but the doctors (Horowitz specifically) don't seem to care and just want you out. When my husband went for a check up, they didn't even give him a full check up! How is that a check up, if they don't even check his cholesterol??!! Needless to say I'm looking for a new primary care doctor. I would never recommend this office to anyone, In fact I would suggest you run the other way.
