Editorial review from Citysearch 1/28/2014

Bought 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan from Nashville Auto Group 10.25.2013. Paid Kelly Blue Book recommended price for model in very good to excellent condition (paid cash). Saleslady made verbal promise that car had undergone thorough testing & was mechanically fit for my purpose during sales pitch. She stated that she would ""stand by"" her word. I had a witness with me. Car is defective. Multiple mechanic reports state $4500-$7000 work required for major engine issue, leaks & more. Mechanics informed me that the issues were present at time of my purchase, as previous attempts to fix the issues are evident. This is documented in my Dodge specialist mechanic report. I was not informed about 'as is' clause in my sale contract until point of sale. I was not offered a formal warranty of any sort, however was assured car was mechanically sound. Check engine light came on after purchase & Valvoline service center informed me that multiple leaks were the cause of the oil/coolant levels requiring frequent attention. I spent past weeks gathering mechanic reports & only recently discovered the full extent of the issues. I returned to Nashville Auto Group & informed them asking if we could work something out given the good faith arrangement leading up to the sale. Original saleslady had the day off. I met with owners. They claimed the sales rep never would have made those statements. He did however proceed to claim the car was sold to me in mechanically sound form & that these were simply maintenance issues that had occurred during my short ownership. He asked if I purchased a formal warranty. I told him I was not offered one (he was present when my payment transaction took place & did not offer me one). He refused to reach a solution & advised me to sell van to someone else before it breaks down completely (currently rapidly burning oil / coolant leaking / car running rough & lagging). Mechanics have advised me not to drive vehicle at all. Salesperson's promises most certainly influenced my car buying decision. I am also unfamiliar with TN laws being foreign.\r more
