Worst

Went to dinner there in Oct '04, enjoyed it and so I invited family of 4 to return in May '05. It was my worst dinner experience in 5 years of weekly visits to Las Vegas. A weddin...

excellent steak 8/8/2008

typical steakhouse menu..meaning everything is ala carte...not the greatest selection for apps and sides...but then it is a steakhouse right...you would do you yourself a diservice if you did not get their signature bone-in ribeye...i ordered mine med-rare...it was cooked perfectly and had the most amazing flavor you could imagine...just incredible...my wife had lobster bisque and a salad..both were okay..not sure i like their style of chopped salad..but the flavor was good...very tasty fresh bread as well...i got their macoroni side and stuffed mushroom appetizer...both were okay...but everything paled in comparison to the steak...i will go back simpy for the steak..cost was about $90 for us.. more

great food, great atmosphere, great service, what more to ask for? 9/5/2007

i had read reviews on line & saw that this restaurant had high marks & wanted to try it out. my companion was hesitant since the restaurant IS located inside texas station casino & that didnt seem like a likely place for an upscale restaurant or a fine dining experience. it didnt start off great. we got there at 745pm & the hostess had just gone inside to show someone a table. she never came back. we waited at the entrance like idiots for 5 minutes & that s a long time to just stand around in front of an empty podium with no promise of anyone helping us. finally, a waitress came over to seat us. but our waiter didnt come by for another 5 minutes, so we were sitting there without menus that whole time. we were, as you can guess, a little irritated at this time. my companion even wanted to up & go to the treasure island steakhouse instead. our waiter finally came over & after this little hiccup in the beginning, everything was EXCELLENT. we had 2 waiters waiting on us, another bringing us break & water (the bread basket was very unique) & many others stopping by to ask if we were all right & recommended wines. their wine is very reasonably priced, not much higher than retail prices. we had the steakhouse salad (do share one since they re huge), the surf & turf (includes a lobster tail which was humongous & a 12 oz filet mignon) & also the 16oz filet mignon. for sides we got spinach & mashed potatoes. we should ve just gotten 1 side or no sides becuz the entrees were very generous in propotions. we couldnt even finish the sides. for dessert, the chocolate decadent cake was sooo good. overall, i LOVED this place. the ambiance was great, the service was beyond excellent & the food was great as well. it's a very romantic place to take a date. you would definitely get props for it. we ordered a bottle of dom perignon (195) & splurged on the more expensive entrees, so our dinner came out to be 400. but you could easily eat here for 100 or so. go there. u wont regret it. Pros: ambience, great food, service, reasonably priced wines more

Best steak house 5/7/2007

Great food, excellent service, mid-range prices. Our family goes to Austin's 5-6 times per year. We have never had a bad meal. A+ for food quality, ambiance, and service. LOVE IT! Pros: Best steak house in Vegas Cons: You have to walk through the Texas casino to get to Austin's. more

A better experience on 2nd visit 5/1/2007

04/09 revisit - We started off with a basket of artisan bread and then shared a very good Caesar salad. Our entr?e was a mammoth sized ribeye plus we ordered a colossal baked potato that our server split for us. The ribeye was both tender and flavorful, but the baked potato was too well done. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 04/07 Based on extensive pre trip research, we shared Austin's chopped salad, a rib-eye and baked potato. Excluding service and the bread basket, this meal was a disappointment all around. I just don?t get this chopped salad thing ? is it for people without than own choppers? This salad had very little taste and was visually unappealing. The rib-eye was cooked medium rare as requested but was tough. Last and by all means not least in my wife's opinion, the huge Idaho potato was undercooked. We did learn, belatedly, the head chef takes seafood seriously and only serves fish that is environmentally friendly. Pros: Affordable Cons: Over done potato more

Great everytime 1/28/2007

Went to Austins for my birthday dinner, could not have picked a better place. The service this time was a better than last and so was the food. Surf and turf gets two thumbs up and the truffle mac and cheese was perfect. Everyone in the party loved the food and the whole experience was great. The best part was after asking the the waiter why the entree seemed to be taking so long the manager came to the table and comped the drinks, along with dessert. Saving arond $100, which was left to the top notch wait staff. The carrot cake is a must have, will not find any better in the city. Pros: Great wait staff, all the food. Cons: Crowded and at times a little noisy more

Good Food 12/12/2006

This is a good place to eat, a tad expensive but worth it. My Pros: Good Food and service Cons: A little expensive more

Treated like a queen. 11/8/2005

I've been to Austin's on three different occasions this year. Every experience was fabulous. What really amazed me was the last time I came up to the entrance, the greeter actually remembered my name and the occasion I was celebrating just a few weeks before. I loved the service they provide, it made me feel very welcome. They impressed my girlfriends, and we all had a great time. Our waiters were extremely personable, friendly, and charming. When they delivered the food, it was like the world revolved around our table: THREE of the waiters CAME AT ONCE to deliver our food! And I must mention, the steaks were perfect. I must admit though, the bacon wrapped shrimp didn't taste as great as the first two times. Two out of three times is good enough... I was satisfied with my steak. Pros: ribeyes, great service, comfortable seats Cons: hard to get booths, reservations full, no mints more

GREAT !!!!!!!! 9/17/2005

One of the best steaks in town, the other is THE Steak House in Circus Circus. The service was great, the food was awesome! Pros: Everything more

Don't go there! 7/22/2005

Went to dinner there in Oct '04, enjoyed it and so I invited family of 4 to return in May '05. It was my worst dinner experience in 5 years of weekly visits to Las Vegas. A wedding party in an adjacent room sunk Austin's ship sort of. Wait staff brought our drinks then disappeared . We should have left then( one couple did ). The waiter returned after 30 min, apologetic with comp drinks, and took our dinner orders. 40 min later we still hadn't been served. The manager didn't seem to be bothered when I told him that his team was obviously overwhelmed. There were many complaints overheard by other guests as well. As we departed, the management team of 3 were huddled at the entrance and obviously enjoying themselves more than their restaurant guests. Pros: Water boy Cons: Everything else more

One of Las Vegas Greatest 7/12/2005

We enjoyed the service and food thoroughly. An excellent dining experience. more

Well worth a Visit 6/6/2005

While I read the latest unfavorable review, I must say that although I have not been back for two years, I have dinned at Austins on at least 6 occsasions. We have dinned all over the LV Area, and Austins, was always a pleasure! As a world traveler I have had the pleasure of many fine emporiums. The ambiance is one of the most pleasant. It is a shame that the unhappy diner, was not pleased, as I have always enjoyed their presentations, and the variety of tastes. The customer should have brought it to the attention of the Matre D. As he would have immediately remedied their situation. This is a fine dinning ad well managed operation. It is hard to imagine that it has fallen from one of the best, but my curiosity is now peaked and I will hold my next dinner party there! Semper Fi ' Pros: Fine Dinning, Attractive Presentati, Pleasant Staff Cons: Not at this time more

Best in Vegas 6/5/2005

Off the Strip located in the Texas Station Casino is the best Steak House in Town. Offerring outstanding quality, excellent service, huge portions and value unmatched by other fine dining Steak Houses. This is a must try when you visit on live in the Entertainment Capital of the World; Las Vegas. more

Best of the Best 6/5/2005

It isn't hard to find a good steak in Las Vegas, but if you are looking for the best, in has to be Austins. The most amazing thing about Austin's is that when you go to most restaurants in a large party, not everybody has the same experience. Some peoples steaks are overdone, others undercooked. The 8 times I have been there, EVERYBODY in the party was more than satisfied. Even their ""doggie bags"" are special!! Pros: Quality, Service, Portion Size more

must be kidding 5/18/2005

I went here because of the reviews with friends I havnt seen in 10 years. what a nightmare. the service was poor, so was the food and the portions. we had good attention from the water boy but our waiter was invisiable. we were about to get up and leave when the waiter finnally decided to grace us with his brief appearance to take our orders. we should have just left, then we wouldnt have had to enjoy the cold food. and no, it wasnt busy, most of the tables around us were empty, another ignored clue that should have warned us to leave. complaining and bringing it to the managers attention just got us an ""I'm sorry"", with the blank stare and fake smile. go anywhere else as most of those other reviews are probably from employees. Pros: panda express Cons: everything more

WOW ! 2/1/2005

This rivals any steakhouse anywhere! Just a fabulous meal with excellent service and an extremely friendly staff. more

The Sleeper 6/16/2004

Easily the best steak in Las Vegas. Not as well known as most of the highly rated steakhouses in Las Vegas, but it serves consistently the best steaks. Their Swordfish is also the best served in town. It is also a very non pretensious restaurant with great atmosphere and decor, with very friendly and attentive service. To top it off prices are very moderate for food as well as wines from their excellent wine list. Pros: Great Food, Excellent Service, Good Wine List Cons: , Does Not Serve Late more

The best 4/27/2004

Has to be the finest steak house in Las Vegas. Staff personel are attentive yet not obnoxious. Freshness is unbelievable.. Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Reasonable more

Excellent--among the best 1/25/2004

First time, after experiencing Delmonicos, Ruth's Chris, Morton's, Prime. Austin's is the best for value, atmosphere, service and food. We had the filet, baked potatoes, house salad, and shrimp appetizer. All were large portions and excellent. The service was superb, thanks to Ted, Joseph and Gerarado. As good as Delmonico's, without the attitude. Highly recommended. Pros: food, service, value more

Highly Recommend 11/5/2003

I trusted Citysearch and boy was I happy. Everyone said go to Delmonico's but when I asked around at the hotels about Austin's I could tell by the look in their eyes that this place is a gold mine. Everything was perfect. I didn't expect the restaurant to be so classy in Texas Station either! more

A rare eatery well worth a try 2/10/2003

Who would think that at a place for the ""locals"" one would find a steakery of this caliber. The service is outstanding, friendly efficient. The food whether it be steak, rack of lamb or anything else is tender, tastey and cooked to the desired level of doneness. All this and priced very fairly. The only problem, if one can call it a problem, is the size of the portions........ too large.... much too large, one is tempted to split their rib-eye.... and speaking of their rib-eye.... you gotta try it... Pros: priced right, quality of service, ease of parking Cons: a bit noisey more
