I moved to the bay area about a year ago and have been searching high and low for a stylist whom I felt at home with. I had been disappointed until a co-worker recommended me to Char. At first, I didn't believe that my co-workers hair was colored, her hair looks so healthy, shiny and the blonde looked so natural. She told me that Char was an expert at highlights. She raved that her highlights grew out so natural with hardly any line between the color and her roots. I made my appointment and gave Char a try! Char is awesome, she is so knowledgable and friendly...I really enjoyed my time with her and really LOVE my hair! She took time to consult me and created a beautiful blend of color for my hair. It is the most beautiful blonde I have ever had! Thanks Char...I'll definitly be back! Pros: expert color, relaxed environment, price vs. quality Cons: None more

JEN is one mean straightening machine 4/27/2006

I was referred to Jen by a few of my friends. I didn't know what to expect - I had long, curly/kinky, unmanageable hair. I was looking for a new ""sassy"" do and Jen was able to do the job and did it VERY well! I walked out of the salon with a cute cut and she even managed to straighten my hair. I didn't think straightening my hair was possible. She did so well you would think I was born with it. Unfortuantely, I haven't been able conquer the grueling task myself. I've received several compliments on my hair and I owe all to JEN! If you're looking for a new stylist you will not be disappointed. more

Natural Highlighting 4/17/2006

I made an appointment with CHAR for the first time last week, she came recommended by a co-worker of mine. She was great! Extremely Satisfied First Time Client!! 4/16/2006

I absolutely loved my haircut with Sara!! Having found Alchemy online I didn't know what to expect as it was my first visit to the salon. Sara was very warm from the get go and asked several questions to make sure that I got exactly what I wanted. I found out that she is very fresh and knowledgeable in both color and cuts and the end result proved it. She showed me different ways to style my hair so that I can work the cut in different ways. From the scalp massage to the styling, my experience there was EXCELLENT. I have now found a new home for my hair styling needs and will come back to Sara for many more times to come. more

In all these years she has consistantly satisfied and entertained me, a few years back we all thought we were going to lose her to the commercial/music video world of NYC, but luckily she's back in the Silicon Valley. Always the perfectionist, she takes her time to perfect my highlights and haircuts and is great at listening for my needs. Whenever I leave Char, I always feel and look fabulous and receive such high compliments from my family, friends and even strangers standing in bankers or grocery lines. My girls love seeing her too, as she is wickedly wonderful with their prom do's and make-up! Love her new home at ALCHEMY too...she is florushing in their warm environment! Pros: Friendly, vast experience, great listener Cons: not a one! more

Sara is one of the most talented hair stylists in the valley. In the last 15 years I have been to all of the top salon's in the valley, and paid serious amounts of money for cuts and color work. I left them all, either because I was tired of waiting; tired of inconsistant cuts or tired of the vanity of the stylist. Sara is a clear cut above the rest. Her cuts are always fresh and original, I am always asked where I have my hair done, and her focus is always entirely on you when you are in her chair. Her cuts are extrememly precise, but she is quick, I am in and out in around 30 minutes. Her scalp massages with essential oils before the shampoo are soooooo great. I always tip about 50% of the price backto her - that's how highly I regard her work. Pros: Healthy Snacks , offer of beverage more

New to the area - I was looking for a hair salon to call my own. A male friend suggested I go to his friend Sher - who was a hair whiz! That was almost 8 years ago! A great place to relax 1/31/2006

I've been with Char for years and have seen her work in a few places but I believe she's finally found a home. I get unsettled in most high end salons. I don't like feeling intimidated just in order to get my hair cut. The first time I walked into Alchemy I just....relaxed. The atmosphere is so calm and peaceful. There is a good energy there. You can tell the people who work there are happy and happy hairdressers make for happy clients. It just feels good to be inside alchemy and add to that some of the best hair people in the Bay Area and you just can't go wrong. more
