I have an antique ring, it's just beautiful.. Hand carved gold with a 2.5 karat real pink sapphire in it's crown.. I adore wearing this ring.. Then one day the band snaps. Oh No! So I brought it to Atef, as I loathe to send it out to be repaired, out of fear that I may not get it back. He examines my ring and tells me he will need to take the stone out to repair it, due to the heat he would be applying to the ring while soldering.. And he tells me that the stone sits very high in the ring and should be lowered.. I tell him he is not to change this ring in anyway what so ever!! Absolutely Not! Just repair it... I picked it up after work that evening, and to my dismay he had ruined my 100 year old ring! The soldering looked like a glob of gold and he LOWERED THE STONE! I said to him I thought I told you not to lower the setting, his reply was it was unsafe for a stone to sit so high. My reply was this is how the ring was made, and it sat quite safely like that for over 100 years. I paid him and I left,, got into my car, looked over my ring, crying, I slide the ring onto my finger and POP, the new solder job broke... And to top it off,, he never gave me the gold he took from the ring as most Fine Jewelers' will do. I have yet to have my ring fixed again.. Fear that another jeweler will do yet more damage to my once Very Lovely Antique ring... I am very dissatisfied with this Fine Jeweler, very anguished over the loss.. And because he changed the setting to his liking he also took away from the value of the ring, it's originality and personality. Please do not trust this man to repair your jewelry.. He never offered in anyway to re-repair the ring, Not that i would let him near it again...
Pros: What Pros
Cons: He destroys Antique jewelry with the swoop of a solder gun
