Good ice cream, prices OK 9/27/2005

Ashley's has been in the New Haven are for many years - once you walk in the parlor, you are assaulted with the sheer number of "Best of..." plaques they have on the walls! Regardless, their ice cream is made in-house and they have a variety of flavours that seems to rotate almost daily. They also have a wide variety of toppings and serving methods (cones, bowls, etc.). The ice cream is very good, portions are standard (pretty much), but the prices are a bit on the high side for ice cream. more

Worth every calorie 7/6/2005

Sure, there's now a Cold Stone Creamery in New Haven where you can get whatever you want mixed into your ice cream. Who cares? Ashley's has flavors you'd never dream up on your own, but are orgasmicly good and exactly what you wanted before you knew you needed them. Seriously. Best ice cream ever. My favorites - the sweet cream (no extraneous flavors to get in the way of absolutely pure ice cream...makes vanilla taste lurid) or coffee oreo (dark yet creamy, incredibly complex and textured) And, the drawings (some by children, others by the childish) will keep you entertained as you eat, if you don't grab your cone and walk around in the summer evening. more
