estaurant, Salem, MA 5/23/2009

I was recently visiting the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA. After spending several hrs at the museum I was so pleasantly surprised to walk out & see Asahi Japanese Restaurant in front of me! I had delicious sushi & went back the following night for the habbachi room with my family. Whenever I am in the Boston area I will take the train right to Salem & Asahi!! more

Sushi 5/2/2009

I lived in Japan & have finally found a comparable sushi restaurant (ASAHI) here in the US. The sushi is handrolled unlike other places I have frequented. The owner is Japanese & pays attention to quality and presentation. The sushi is always fresh and authentic. I have enjoyed the teppanyaki room (chefs cook at your table) and is quite entertaining. The room is perfect for b'days, rehearsal parties, company parties, etc., and,of course,the saki bomb. Many great memories more

Excellent Sushi plus a Fantastic Hibachi Grill 11/5/2006

Saw on TV Diner & was an excellent tip--the sushi was fresh & succulent--But much to my surprise, this unique restaurant also has a Hibachi Grill room (meal cooked at your table.) Learned that the Japanese Sushi chef had worked 25 yrs in some of the finest restaurants in Boston before opening Asahi in Salem. Been in business 15 yrs & the quality is superb. more
