Great selection...Friendly staff! 3/28/2007

I enjoyed the gallery quite a bit. Sure, there are some ""trendy"" artists, but the diversity there is unparalleled. They have a section of Smithsonian artwork, right around the corner from glass work and antique cigar labels. I also like that the have a lot of talented up-and-coming artists who are just getting their start. more

True Art 3/23/2007

Wow, it sounds like Steve has an axe to grind with Art Encounter. I have always had pleasurable experiences when interacting with the staff and owners of Art Encounter. They are knowlegable about the art and the artists from their gallery and are always happy to answer any questions. They have a wide arrey of art, something for any taste. Right now my favorite area of the gallery is the glass work. They have some truly amazing peices. A must see for any true art conisieur. more

Tart Encounter 11/16/2006

Just go downtown for your art. This place is run by a guy who is only interested to renting wall space to ANY artist who is willing to pay. The owner dosen't care about what goes in this shop which features tons of boring artist wanna be's. There is an occasional nice suprise of creativity, but most of what you'll see is designer mall drivel. The owner is half nuts and can be frequently heard yelling and screaming in the back of the gallery. When he's not screaming manically, you can find him loosing the money he gladly takes from these poor artists at locals casinos. On the plus side his inventory is ever changing because it doesn't take artists long to figure out that the owner is more interested in taking their money than actually selling art. So after their contract is up, they get out and make room for another poor artist who doesn't know better. Pros: You can eat at Chinatown Cons: Mostly art for the dullard more
