Arnies Restaurant is amazing. 11/27/2011

I contacted Arnies to see if they would be open to cooking Thanksgiving dinner for my family because my husband has Stage IV cancer and I needed assistance in creating a memorable holiday dinner. The dinner was phenomenal, the stuffing was the best we ever had, the turkey was moist and the portions generous. The attention and customer service Fran and her staff gave to us was beyond exceptional. Arnies was charitable, generous, kind, and very much in the Thanksgiving spirit. Thank you Fran, Arnies and Staff. more

First time for brunch will be the last 11/17/2008

Normally, I don't write reviews of restaurants, but in this case I felt it necassary. My family and I decided to try the brunch at Arnies for the first time and it will be the last. What a disappointment. First, we were seated in a booth right next to the kitchen which was very loud and distracting including some foul language which my 7 and 12 year old daughters didn't need to hear. We were brought some fruit plates which happened to be the highlight of the experience, though very small but still fresh none the less. After quite a wait, our entrees finally arrived. One of my daughter's waffle had little bits of soot in it, so we sent it back and got her some eggs and potatoes which was a little better. My husbands seafood omelette was okay but the sauce on top looked like it was curdled or bad so we sent that back as well and had it replaced. I had the eggs benedict. The muffin tasted as if it was soaked in grease, the eggs were rock hard and the hollandaise was more like scrambled eggs and completely flavorless as were the potatoes which were also soggy. We finished what we could and left feeling as though we were robbed when we paid the bill, which we thought was far too expensive for both the food and the experience. We will not return to this establishment. Pros: Nice view Cons: open kitchen more

great half price wine bottle nights, good food 7/17/2008

after reading all seafood reviews for the greater seattle area I found this restaurant's to be the most consistent. that is how i made the choice to go there to celebrate my dad and grandpa's birthday. When i made the reservation I was also informed they give free creme bruelle desserts to the bday people. we ended up going one one of the 1/2 priced wine bottle night and had a wonderful Saint Michelle Reisling. We all loved our entrees - alaskan king crab legs, cedar planked halibut, hot seafood salad, and fusilli and cheese. We also all had clam chowder and dessert that we liked, all for ~$200 for 5 people. over served seemed a little overwhelmed (like he had a lot of tables or something) but still managed to give better service that you get at a lot of places nowadays. We will definitely be back. it was a little loud sitting near their open kitchen though, so next time i would probably ask if we could be seated further away. Pros: waterfront view, great prices Cons: a little loud more

Saved by the food!! 6/4/2008

Having been to Arnies a few times the last couple of years, my family and I decided to take my father out to dinner as they've always been a reliable restaurant to go to. My question is: What happened?!?! We made reservations for six on a Wednesday evening and upon arriving, we were greeted, if you could call that, by the hostess who seemed to busy talking to co-workers to acknowledge us. Bad start. I told her our name and the time of our reservation(we arrived about ten minutes early) and she had no record of our reservation but said it would be no problem getting us seated. It didn't seem that busy but we sat in the lobby for 20 minutes!! As we waited, I excused myself to the bathroom and upon walking to the bathroom, I could see part of the dining room was empty with several tables available. Exactly why were we waiting so long?? I asked if we could be seated with so many tables open and was given a ""deer in the headlights"" look from the hostess as she replied ""it will just be a minute"" as if I was the bad guy in all of this. Wow! I was one minute from asking for a manager when finally we were seated. Our server was great. He seemed genuine and friendly and was attentive to all our needs, though seemed a little smug at times. He brought out our drinks with appetizers soon after. We all shared a crab dip and a quesadilla which were both tasty and set the tone for the rest of the evening. Our food did not take long and looked and tasted great. My NY steak was perfectly done with a smokey type butter on top. My father had a lobster which was tender and juicy and put a big smile on his face, as well as ours. We shared some desserts with my father having a big slice of chocolate cake and ice cream and our server placed a candle in the cake which was a nice touch. Next time we go to Arnies, we will bypass the nightmare host desk and go right into the bar and save ourselves a headache. Pros: The food and the view Cons: Confusion at the hostess desk more

Great food. Great view. Great service. (In whatever order pleases you...) 4/25/2008

Compared with the restaurants in this area, Arnie's sets the bar. As good or better than the Ballard view if you're looking for a romantic setting. Arrive during happy hour, settle in with the view of the ferry rolling by, and by dessert time you'll catch the sunset!... A+ score for the staff. No high-falutin' attitudes here: they always try their best to make you feel welcome. A real plus... Don't overlook the appetizer menu. Arnie's has a knack for focusing on simple pleasures. Try the manila clams and the salt and pepper prawns. My favorite for dinner has been the seafood fettuccine. Don't worry about heavy dessert; the burnt cream is a nice, ""lightweight"" option. more

Waterfront dining/excelent seafood/ diverse menu 4/17/2008

We are residents of Edmonds who dine out and travel frequently. Arnies of Edmonds is our recomendation for best seafood restaurant in Edmonds. In my opinion this restaurant ranks with the best restaurants of San Fransico and San Diego. Pros: Food, Staff, and Location Cons: beware of the marina parking areas more

Genuine hospitality! 4/9/2008

I had the best experience at Arnie's with my husband and 4 year old daughter. Our server was completely accommodating to our child's requests and the bartenders were so pleasant and generous. The highlight of the evening was when one of the managers came up to our table and personally made sure we were enjoying ourselves. I would highly recommend Arnie's to anyone in the Edmonds area for either a date night or a family outing. Pros: service, hospitality, generosity, friendliness Cons: underrated more

Great Place to DIne! 8/21/2007

I love the view and the food! What could be better than a view of the sound and eating fresh seafood? Their salmon is to die for, and the waiters and very knowledgable and friendly. The wine selection is large and the happy hour has some good deals. Always a place to take family and friends. Pros: Fresh food and good service Cons: No view when the fog comes in. more

What a view! 7/11/2007

A friend took me here for the first time and wow! food was great, the view was absulutely incredible, and I must not have had the same server as the previous reviewer because the service we had was spot on! I had a bisque (which I thought was good, but better at there sister restaurants the Coho Cafe's) a wild salmon dish and we shared a slice of absolutely gluttonous coconut creme pie. It was a lot, but with a bottle of wine at half off, the bill was very reasonable. Keep up the great work. Pros: Amazing view Cons: bit of a drive for me more

My new favorite 7/8/2007

I first took my wife here for an anniversary dinner. We wanted to try out a new restaurant. I have since brought many friends and family members here. I love the food. The Ling Cod is the best fish I have ever had. Excelent food, good atmosphere and great service. Best buy for the buck in Seattle. Forget about Ivar's, this is the place for my seafood. more

A Very Memorable Experience 7/6/2007

\r My wife and I just celebrated our anniversary at Arnies restaurant in Edmonds It was one of those perfect experiences. We arrived about 7pm on a Saturday evening. The lobby area was packed so we had to squeeze our way to the front desk. The lady at the front was very pleasant and guided us to the table immediately for our reservation.\r \r If you have never been to Arnies, they have an incredible waterfront view overlooking the ferry and marina. It was a beautiful evening, and that was just the beginning. Our server, Carla, was great! She had a great sense of humor and her service was impeccable.\r \r Even with all that, the food was really the shinning star. We shared the Seafood Bisque and the Ginger Chicken Lettuce Wraps, both of which were outstanding. We then tried the Cashew Crusted Ling Cod and the Wild Alaskan King Salmon. Now, I love my salmon and it was very good, but once I had tried a piece of my wife?s ling cod she had to threaten me with a fork to keep me off her plate. It really was that good! \r \r Throughout dinner our server was fun and professional. She never missed a beat and when we were about to throw in the towel, she surprised us with a warm multi-layered chocolate cake with a scoop of ice cream for our anniversary. I have forgotten what it was called but it was delightful!\r \r Every now and then things just happen the way they are supposed to. It happened for us at Arnies on our anniversary!\r more

Great Early Dinner Favorites 1/14/2007

We went as a party of three to celebrate a birthday on one of stormy nights in January. After reading so many negative reviews I had never expected to go to Arnie's in Edmonds, but found Arnie's to be one of the better restaurant choices in the past twelve months. All three of us selected an early dinner favorite (before 6 pm) Cashew Crusted Lingcod and Miso Grilled Flank Steak being our choices. The food, service, ambiance, selection and view were all very good. My entire flank steak plate arrived in a very liquid bath - not sure if it was a jus or some other beefy broth, but that was the only criticism I could list. The cocktail sauce (shrimp cocktail appetizer) is a bit on the hot side, so ask for it to be on the side if you have horseradish issues. If you have dairy issues, you won't have any dessert options on the menu. It would be great if Arnie's had a broiled fish selection for those wanting a lighter fare. After two years of rejecting the idea of dining at Arnie's in Edmonds, I have to admit this is a thumb's up kind of place for a reasonably priced great dinner. It took one of our horrible winter storms to get me to go, but I'm thankful mother nature sent me there. I'm now an Arnie's supporter and plan to go back to try other items on the menu. I'm very picky on value, service and nice vibes and this place works for me! Pros: Good Menu Selection - Go For the Early Dinner Before 6 pm Cons: Bad Reviews by Others in the Past - might just be the past more

gross food, good service 11/21/2006

we were early for our reservation, and the hostess was gracious enough to seat us in the lounge. we had some pork ribs, which were dry and a dirty vodka martini which was good. we were seated promptly and then all hell broke loose food-wise. i had the seafood bisque with a layer of film on top about 1/8"" thick, like it had been sitting under hot lights. i ordered the prawn special, and it was smothered in some lemony beige sause with soggy spinach. the rice was dripping in fat and the vegetables weren't cooked enough. the steak was tough and chewy, despite being ordered rare. overall, the food was absolutely some of the worst i have ever had at a restaurant. Pros: staff and service Cons: food - ick, ick, ick. more

Worst Ever 3/9/2006

It shames me to think that visitors to the Northwest might actually visit Arnie's and consider it to be the standard for seafood, service, and atmosphere. If you are visiting please spend your vacations dollars at a fish-and-chip shack on the waterfront; at least you won't be insulted while you dine! more

99% Favorable Responce 3/30/2005

Arnies never fails to deliver to the guests I refer to them. The manager Fran and her staff have always looked after my guests with quality service and food. I take my family there often. We always leave very very satisfied. I am loyal to a restaurant who takes good care of me. I am pleased to reccommend Arnies. Pros: Wonderful Specials!, The Best Cheesecake!, Excellent Service! Cons: Lack of Banquet Space more

Outstanding Service and Food! 10/20/2004

If you want to REALLY feel special, arrive at Arnies with a smile a good attitude. Your good vibes will be returned ten fold! Fran sets the standard by treating everyone as though they are a favorite customer. Jamie ads the icing with such warm personal greetings. Whether its been two weeks or 5 months, its as though I was just in! What a GREAT feeling!!! Need to wait for your table, enjoy a drink at the bar or just watch the ferries from the patio. Whatever your pleasure, the staff at Arnies are there to ensure that you have a great meal cooked just the way YOU want it. THANK YOU JAMIE!!! You truly are the best! Pros: Friendly Staff, Excellent Food, Served to Order Cons: , popular restaurant, Jamie Rules!!!! :-) more

Location, location, location 5/29/2004

Arnies is successful due to their premium waterfront view, professional staff and reputation. We have enjoyed eating and drinking there since they opened in 1981. The food is traditional steaks, prime rib and seafood. I would like to see less fried seafood selections and more for the veggie style diner but thats not going to happen why mess with success. Crazy Lobster closed. Arnies is sometimes a bit overpriced for the quantity of food. In general, comparable with Anthonys. Pros: Marina & ferry view, parking, service more

Good View Not So Good Food 11/24/2003

Arnies in Edmonds has a fantastic view, its stunning to sit and watch the sunset while sipping a nice glass of wine. The food however leaves much to be desired in my opinion. If you like lots of fried food then you will be happy here; but if you like tasty, nicely done seafood go elswhere. The service is good, I've never had a complaint about that. I just wish they would raise the bar on the food to match the service and the view. Pros: View, Service, lots of Parking Cons: Mediocre food more
