Best

This was by far the best dining experience we had on our 4-day trip, which included other highlights such as Cochon and Mr. B's. Everything we ordered was superb, and the service....

Worst

It was just not the quality of food and presentation that I expect from an upscale restaurant. The staff seem to be lost in translation. For the price, the whole experience was no...

Poor Service 3/14/2004

The last time we went, the maitre d' was extremely rude and vulgar as if she couldn't care less. Furthermore, the whole impression I get from this restaurant is that's extremely overrated. The quality of service and food is poor and doesn't match the image they try to portray. I'd advice to head else for fine dinning. more

Truly disappointing 4/25/2003

We went to Arnaud's for Easter Sunday's jazz brunch. The music was good, setting was pretty, but the food and service were a complete letdown. Our waiter was smug, inattentive, and unhelpful, preferring to fawn over larger tables, and service was unbelievably slow (the restaurant was not very busy at this point). The food was barely average. Crab cakes that tasted like they came out of the frozen food section, bland Crawfish O'Connor with undercooked rice - even the appetizers were poor. Plus we had a lousy table, despite reserving well in advance. Arnaud's is simply not worth the price, unless you relish the idea of throwing your money away on a 'name' restaurant. Pros: Attractive setting Cons: Disappointing food, Poor service, Overpriced more

Great time, great food 3/6/2003

Arnaud's couldn't have done a better job of introducing us to the real New Orleans. The main dining room was gorgeous and the service matched. Favorite dishes at our table were the Pompano David and the Filet Lafitte. The bread pudding was the best we've ever had and the wine list blew us away. We indulged in a great old bottle of Petrus we never see on a menu anymore. This is a must stop for anyone coming to New Orleans. We didn't eat in the Jazz Bistro but stood there and enjoyed the jazz! Thanks - Mickey C. Pros: Lovely ambiance, Excellent service, Delicious menu more

Old School Food. Lousy Service 2/23/2003

Sure, I expected a salad with a bit more to it than iceberg lettuce and a cherry tomato but I chalked the lousy salad up to Old School clientel who don't really care for vegetables. My trout almadine was quite good, in a fried fish, old school kind of way. Dessert was unmemorable (ie. I don't remember what I got). But what infuriated me about this place was the service. Our head waiter was more interested in his larger parties and basically ignored us. In turn, we ignored the tip line on the bill. For a great dining experience go across the street to GW Fins. Pros: authentic N.O. food? Cons: lousy service, uncreative food, really bad service more

valentines day ruined 2/17/2003

My wife and I had the unfortunate experieance of dining here on th4 14th. I have had better food at krystal. Rarely have I ever found anyplace that can ruin red snapper and a new yory strip. The snapper was cold and mushy. only the crabmeat topping was consumable. My wifes steak was a complete disaster. Oa old inner tube would have been more eatible! I never mind paying a premium price for a quality product, but this palce was a joke. They should be ashamed of that offering! Pros: friendly serving staf Cons: grossly over priced, poor quality more

Suckers! 2/10/2003

Only been to NO once, and wasted a meal at this institution. Food was uncreative and bland and extremely overpriced, ambience was stuffy--trying to make us feel ""lucky"" to be there. This is obviously a French Quarter tourist trap for people who think the mark of a good meal is how much it costs. There are plenty of more interesting places here. more

would go back! 1/2/2003

Just lovely! we dined in the jazz bistro and ordered off the pre-set menu - salad was very so-so but the steak was very good. Chocolate Devastation was wonderful! The staff was friendly and service was truly excellent!!! Very enjoyable experience. We sat in the back so we could listen to the live jazz trio and also hear each other. Not a great value but nothing is cheap on Bourbon Street! Take a sweater if you sit in the back - chilly airconditioning in that section! We would recommend it! Pros: excellent service, live jazz Cons: chilly, tables tad too close more

Don't believe the hype 11/16/2002

What a disappointment. First we get a salad was as boring as a side salad at Wendys. Probably very cheap to make, and guaranteed very cheap tasting. The entree was a chicken breast, cooked dry and chewy. According to the menu, it was supposed to have bearnaise sauce on it, but that would have to be corrected to something that looks like bearnaise, but it certainly does not taste like it. Nice presentation, but the gastronomical experience is not at all present. Boring. Dessert. Ok, I was looking forward to the taste of port-marinated strawberries. But, sorry, it didn't work. Foul. Which is a word I seldom use about food. In the bottom of the dessert we found some rock hard ice cream, which tasted crystallized once we got some chipped off of it. The cost? $50 a head. Save your time and money, cheaper and better options are everywhere. more

Good blast from the past 6/28/2002

Perhaps its the heavily flowered wallpaper or the battery of servers at hand before you even you know you need them -- whatever it is, Arnaud's makes you feel like the lord or lady of some ancient manor. Fabulously rich renditions of Creole standards only further the deliciously spoiling experience. Treat yourself soon -- you deserve it. more

My favorite in New Orleans 6/28/2002

Dinner at Arnaud's was the highlight of my trip to New Orleans. The service was outstanding. I can't wait for my next trip down south so I can have their Pompano Duarte and Bananas Foster once again! Pros: Beautiful dining room, Cigar Bar!!!, Validated Parking Cons: Was a little cold., Pricey but worth it, I need a bigger tummy more
