I am quite expierenced at being tattooed and pierced. I went to Area 51 for one and only one tattoo. The ink has already faded and it is less than 2 years old, the lines were not...

i got my nose and eyebrow pierced be desi...lovin them!!!! also got my 2 tatts fixed by her. i had them done somewhere else and they were terrible. she made them worthy of neing shown off!!! love you guys Pros: best tatt repair,pain-less piercings Cons: not open late enough more

I have gone to A51 for all of my tattoos, and I have known them all for quite a few years, working across the street from them. Every tattoo I have gotten there exceeds my expectations and I leave completely satisfied. I have never had an issue with healing or ink fading or shoddy linework. They are grade A tattooers, and can bust out one amazing original design after another. And not only that, but portraiture, some of the best i've seen in recent years. I love these guys a lot and I really couldnt recommend them enough. They're friendly, professional, and talented. You dont have to wait three months for an appointment, and they treat everybody like best friends. Really, this shop is very modest in downtown CL, but what comes out of it will blow you away. Awesome experience 8/19/2009

I brought my design in along with my ideas, left it to Desirea to create a truly unique body of work, and voila! she created an amazing piece. I couldn't be happier and I am proud of it and it's awesome to know she is proud of her art as well. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who wants great artwork and great service! Highly Recommended 7/30/2009

I have known Joe for quite some time and when it came time to commemorate the loss of my brother, I turned to Joe for his expertise. Their shop is very clean, very organized, and very professional. The artists' areas are also very well kept. I am absolutely thrilled with Joe's work and I know I will be for the rest of my life. I recommend Area 51 to all of my friends. And I recommend Joe to even more. Not only did he do an amazing job but he was very concerned with how I was feeling through out the process. Don't go anywhere else! 12/3/2008

I recommend Area 51 to any and everyone who is planning on getting a Tattoo or piercing. I have gotten 2 tattoo's here, 1 from Joe and 1 from Khalid, and i have had many friends get tattoos and piercings. The prices are very fair and the work is perfect. The shop is incredibly clean and they are all great people. they all are very accommodating and make sure everything is the way you like it. They are all artists and they all want your tattoos to look as good as they can. I will be going back soon and everyone should go check them out. Awesome place for first tattoo 11/25/2008

This was my very first tattoo and I was so impressed with everyone. I was very, very nervous but Khalid made me feel very comfortable. Best Place to get a body piercing! 7/28/2008

For my birthday, I went to get my belly button pierced. My friend went there to get hers done about 6 months earlier, and wouldn't let me go to any other place. They are clean, friendly, and the most professional group of artists I have ever met. Desirea did my piercing, and she made me feel very comfortable, and relaxed while doing the piercing. She made sure I knew how to clean it, and told me if there are any problems to please call her and she will do whatever she could to help me. I have NEVER had a problem with my piercing thenks to Desirea's perfect advice. I HIGHLY recommend this place for piercings. The best in all of Northern Illinois! Pros: The best you can find. FEW ARE AS GOOD-NONE ARE BETTER 7/5/2008

I have had 3 tattoos done at Area 51. As a 21 year Navy vet I have seen tattoo shops all over the world. The difference at Area 51 is that Desirea, Khalid, and Joe are artists who use skin as a medium. Desirea has taken two ideas of mine and turned them into works of art that are one of a kind and done with perfection. You may be able to get a tattoo at a lot of places. I seriously doubt that there is anyone in the Tri-State area as good, professional and original as the staff at Area 51. As long as this crew is at A51, no one and I mean no one else will add put ink on me other than them. Don't settle for average or ok work. Check them out and get a tat that is not like anyone or anywhere else. BEST TATTOO JOINT ON THE PLANET!!! 6/30/2008

I have a number of tattoos and have gotten them from Seattle to Chicago - Khalid has done the most (5) on me and fixed all the rest (4). I will NEVER go to any other Tattoo artist ever again. The Art is QUALITY and original, The CLEANLINESS is without flaw, and the service is HONEST. Also You can't beat the price for the quality of work. I've got many tattoos, from a number of different places. By far, Area 51 is the best.\r All the artists do an excellent job - Khalid, Joe and Desirea.\r They are very creative and listen when you have an idea you want to explore.\r I had my work done by Khalid who did everything free-hand, and it turned out AMAZING!\r I've recommended Area 51 to a number of people and those who have gone - have not been disappointed.\r Hands down, the best place to go for Tattoos and Piercings! Ridiculously Amazing Tattoos 6/23/2008

I am a perfectionist and never thought I would let someone else draw on me with permanent ink until I saw Khalid's work. He is a ridiculously amazing artist. Bring an idea to Khalid for a tatt and his interpretation, artwork and finished product will be at least ten times better than what you imagined. Find a better shop in Mchenry County 6/21/2008

Area 51 has something for everyone. If your covered in ink they can brighten up your old work or cover over ex-wives names. If its your first tattoo their friendly staff will help guide you and leave you with something you wont hate 6 months later. They also offer sterile piercing and gift cards. I have been getting work done there for awhile and I wont go anywhere else. They have the best customer service and a no pressure attitude. Also dont be affraid to ask questions because every member of the staff is always willing to help. Dont trust your body to anyone else. Pros: Great service, Great talent, Excellent prices, Friendly atmosphere more

Great place 6/21/2008

Area 51 has great service. I got my first tattoo there. they made me feel really comfortable. Desirea did my tattoo and I LOVE IT! She is awesome. She definitely makes you feel relaxed and at ease. If it is your first tattoo and you are nervous, the people at Area 51 will make you feel at home.\r I even went there a couple times before getting my tattoo just to look around and they were more than happy to help. Definitely recommend this place! I will be getting my next tattoo there very soon.... more

i have gotten 3 tattoos done at area 51, and all of them have turned out terrific! i've had them design up custom pieces, and they have always come out better than i had ever expected. when i got my first tattoo there, everyone made me feel so comfortable, and so relaxed, even though i was soo nervious. i would tell anyone to go anywhere else, area 51 is the best shop in area, hands down!! more

My husband and myself both love Area 51 and refuse to get ink from anyone else! Khalid and Desirea are our artists and they are perfectionists! We love them and recommend them above anyone else. Friendly knowledgeable service 6/20/2008

I have been a patron at Area 51 for 3 years; my artist has completed three tattoos? and is currently working on my fourth. I have spent close to 30 hours in the chair and I can say with confidence that all of the artist (Khalid, Desirea, and Joe) take great pride in their work. They always greet potential customers and return customers with service that is profession and friendly. All of my work is custom drawn by my artist; it is a pleasure to work with my artist (Desi) to come up with the design. She will take the time to listen to what I want offering her own artistic impression to complete the piece. My work is complemented by many, due to the high degree of detail, the shading, and the coloring that has been applied to the piece. I do recommend Area 51 to my friends and my families, both of my children have had tattoos at area 51. Pros: Pofessional, Freindly, Talented, and Clean Cons: Parking can be difficult at times. more
