Applebee Oil Untrustworthy and Overpriced\r
\r
We gave the company $750 in November and they lead us to believe we had locked our price of propane in at $1.85. a gal, but actually they failed to tell us that we are only ""pre-paying"". When paying the money I specifically asked what happens if the price drops, and the reply was our price would drop also. Also she said when the driver delivers the propane it would be billed at the current rate, but the bill would be adjusted back at the office to the $1.85, because the drivers don't have access who has locked in to what price. Which tells me I have locked in our propane, until they came and put propane in our tank today, at $4.24 a gal. Making sure we were still getting a credit on our account I talked to the owner, Shane Applebee, he said I was too late to lock it in at that time and did not approve it. That is not what the lady that took my money lead me to believe. Why else would I be giving them that much money if I wasn't saving anything? We have been a customer for 15 years, that means nothing to them and would not make it right to us. Not only did they mislead me they are price gouging. I called around today, January 28, 2014 and got prices from Beck's Propane at $3.49, Smith Oil $3.75, Pohl Oil $3.69. I suggest if you are an Applebee Oil customer make a call, check prices, you may want to switch providers. At 50 cents a gallon more for 300 gallons that's a $150.00 overcharge, and at 76 cents a gallon more that's a $228.00 overcharge compared to their competitors. I feel I got mislead and ripped off, that won't happen to me again don't let it happen to you.
