Apple Hill Animal Hospital

I have been taking both of my dogs to Apple Hill Animal Hospital since we moved to Brecksville two years ago. We are there often and spend a lot of money because the one dog has chronic ear infections and the vet is overpriced to begin with. However, I was willing to pay a little more because I really liked Dr. Burge. \r \r Yesterday my dog was attacked by the neighbors pit mix. My dog had a gaping hole the size of my fingertip in her chest. I could see through it into the deeper tissues. It didn't bleed right away so I wasn't sure if it needed emergency care or if my regular vet would suffice so after contacting police I called the vet to see if I could bring her in. I didn't want to have to drag my three year old, ten month old and an injured pet all the way to the ER if I didn't have to. They said I needed to come that instance in order for them to see her cuz it was within 45 minutes of closing. the people and doctors seem to be really nice at apple hilll. however, the prices are horrbible! my husband and i got a puppy, wich was 8 weeks old, when we went there the first time. we didn´t know about the high prices by that time, because we just moved in that area and aplle hill was the closest vet! (our fault!!!) we went there and the people were really nice to the dog. the doctor wrote a plan, what shots he´ll need what time, and set up dates for the next couple month. just to get him checked for the first time and even though he was healthy, we paid 180,00 $.a little later he got wurms, and the wurm medication was also way too expensive.(you could have bought in online for a third of the price we paid there!) our pup wasn´t really lucky at the beginning, thangsgiving he got bit by a dog and his jaw had to get fixed. even though we went to another clinic, because apple hill wasn´t open taht day, we had to pay a lot,.to get him some desinfection fluid for his mouth a couple d more

I used Dr. Burge for years and had to change b/c I moved across town. He and his girls are the BEST! Caring, compassionate, professional! Yes it is more expensive than a Gateway Clinic(which is wonderful too) but my animals are worth it. Taking care of my Weim through several strokes over the years...he is what a vet is all about! more

I have had many dogs over the years, and I recently adopted a new puppy. I decided to try a new vet because the clinic I had been going to previously was becoming so busy it was difficult to make an appointment. The first time I came in was because the puppy had an ear infection. The female vet did provide adequate medication and care for the infection, however the bill was $238! Although the care was costly, I figured I could get over the amount because the puppy was feeling better. The second, and last time, I went to Apple Hill, my puppy was losing weight and having explosive diarrhea. I brought in a stool sample for the vet to check. The vet told me they would send out the stool sample to test for what kind of parasite may be causing the diarrhea. After all was said and done at the appointment, my bill was $340! This is the best animal hospital that I have been to EVER! Excellent service from incredibly caring people. I was blown away! My dog was spoiled rotten by the staff. The veterinary technicians were hilarious...check out the hallway. Blood work and radiographs were done during my appointment, and the doctor was wonderful to talk to. I thought the cost was reasonable considering the amazing service and experience. I say, TAKE YOUR BELOVED PETS HERE, IT IS WORTH IT! more

The doctors at Applehill are the kindest and most intelligent I have ever met, They have ALWAYS been so helpful in taking care of my many pets. They take the time to really explain things to you. These are people who truly love animals and it shows. Over the 15 years I have taken my animals there...I have learned so much. Dr Bob Burge has helped my pets to live LONG lives.. going above and beyond to be there for my animals and myself. And Dr Julia Grossman is even giving up more of her time by having classes to help people learn about how to take proper care of their pets. The staff has always been so thoughtful and kind. After patronizing this Vet for several years, I've come to the conclusion that they are only experts at TAKING MY MONEY!\r \r No costs are discussed at each visit, just a bill handed to you after the fact.\r \r I am sure that you could find better Veterinary service for much less cost in the area.\r \r I highly recommend you choose another clinic for your pet. more

The staff at Apple Hill really do care, and they have shown that in multiple ways to our pets and the first class care that they have recieved there! They have put their hearts in the right place and work to help anyone and everyone who comes in! more

This animal hospital is wonderful. The staff is truly caring and compassionate towards animals. They often take in strays or rescue pets and adopt them out, providing the first checkup and shots for free. The building is very clean. Their fees are average. I adopted my first cat through them, and took a 2nd rescue cat we found. This kitten had many problems, and Dr. Grossman was extremely caring and compassionate with her, and trulu saved her. more
