Awful Experience 5/14/2012

We went there for Mothers Day brunch and for $30 per head got cold french toast, cold bacon, cold sausages and cold potatoes. The only reason the omelet was hot was because it was cooked to order. The pie was offered cold and was dry and tasteless. Waitress was nice, but thats just not enough more

Horrible Experience 3/11/2011

I would not give it one star. My wife and I ate lunch there and she did not eat any of her meal. The salad was wilted and full of rust, so she sent it back and was given a new one that was the same thing. Her entree was topped with moldy cheese. The corned beef on my reuben sandwich was tough and stringy. The iced tea was tasteless. And to top it all off it was expensive. I though I was on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. The raspberry vinagrette was worse than Kraft from a bottle. The place where my wife sat smelled of urine. Service was bad, too. Do not eat here! more

One Bad Apple 6/30/2009

My frnd & I went on a Fri lunch & walked into a crowded entry. Now we know it was the slow line to pay & not people clamoring to get in this disappointing eatery. It was our 1st time here so we gave in to patience & were shortly seated. I ordered the ""Epicurean"" an open-faced, untoasted, white bread topped w/turkey, ham, mushrooms, white wine sauce & cheddar chz. It also came w/side salad. When it arrived it came w/out mushrooms & I was informed they had run out & I cld now order something else. I decided to eat the barely warm sammy w/the salad w/raspberry vinagrette. That was the worst vinagrette I've ever tasted. It was corn syrup & red food coloring--just as awful was the poppyseed dressing. Plus the salad had a bit of a moldy taste to it. My friend ordered the ham 'n chz quiche also served warm w/the same old salad. Nothing we had was worth recommending. Even the iced tea was $2 a glass. The service was fine though. I wanted to get some pastries to go then heard other patrons proclaiming they were dry. They happen to use this antiquated cash register that is slow enuf that the hostess had time enuf to seat two other couples while we waited! For tea room fare try the British Tea Room in Bracken outside Loop 1604 & Nacodoches. Pros: close to other restaurants Cons: small portions more

Horrible Service, Below Average Food 11/22/2008

I had been Apple Annie's years ago with family and remembered it to be delicious. I am not sure if the ownership/management has changed, but it was not at all like I remember. The food was below average at best - the fruit was old and mushy, the bread was dried out and tasted days old, the egg salad was bland and tasted store bought, the salad consisted of browned iceberg lettuce. I only had a couple bites off my plate, and told the waitress that I didn't really care for it. She was nice and offered to bring me something else, but nothing else seemed appetizing. My husband finished his food (which was supposed to be hot, and was only sort of warm) and the waitress brought us our check - with the food we sent back still on it. My husband went up to pay, and asked the lady at the counter why it was still on our bill. She said something along the lines of - ""We stand by all our food, and you are still going to have to pay for it"". My husband told her that he understood they stood behind their food, but that we were not satisfied and did not want to pay for the plate of food we did not eat. (We were more than willing to pay for everything else). She then called out the manager/owner (?) who said very rudely said that we were refusing to pay and that they stand behind all of their food. We said, that is fine, but we are not going to pay for the plate we didn't eat. After some back and forth, the lady at the counter finally took it off our bill and we paid what we owed. I was so disappointed. Needless to say, we won't be going back. Pros: Fun location Cons: Poor service and food more

Cozy little getaway for lunch and shopping 4/19/2007

I experienced Apple Annie's about 7 years ago when I reserved their side room for a bridal shower. We had such a wonderful time that when I got married my friends gave me a bridal shower there. Now, when someone from our group has an upcoming wedding, baby or other celebration we keep Apple Annie's in mind. Their food and service is wonderful and memorable. Pros: desserts, lunch meals and shopping more
