Ordered take out on Super Bowl Sunday. The wings had hardly any meat on them. They tasted like they were cooked once and re-cooked again. If your looking for wings I would highly recommend somewhere else. more

AWFUL PEOPLE 9/22/2011

This establishment is HIGHLY offensive and inconsiderate. The ""chef"" says he is a vegetarian, so never tastes the wings. He also feels compelled to exit the kitchen and share his very profane feelings about the restaurant and the rest of his shortcomings. I tried this place on a recommendation by friends but left tipping very little as the female bartender ( mother of 3 she was so excited to share with me ) tried to conmtinually sell me food that I didn't want. Extremely shocked at how little this place cares about hard-working people and the money they work hard for to spend. Subway would be a far more excellent place in this location. AND THE WINGS WERE TERRIBLE ! more

HAS GONE DOWNHILL VERY FAST 2/16/2011

Em R Wings was always one of my favorite places to eat - we were very loyal customers. Since the name has changed to Apex Wings, the place has taken a very fast plunge downhill. more

Awful food, awful service 2/14/2011

My boyfriend and I found this place online shortly after his return from Afghanistan. He was craving wings and a quick google search for ""best wings in Raleigh"" lead us here. The place was a hole-in-the-wall, which we prefer. We were both starving and quite excited after the reviews we'd seen. The service was poor and every empty table had yet to be cleaned (we cleaned ours ourselves), but we were still excited. My boyfriend even admitted later to wanting to high-five me for finding a great hidden wing joint, but decided to hold off until after we got our food. Good thing he did. The wings came and they lacked the most important part.. the meat! We had three sauces, which were excellent, but ended up leaving due to the quality of the wings themselves. They were all skin and bones and were grossly overcooked. In 15 years, I've never seen my boyfriend talk to anyone about bad food (he even puts up with my cooking!) but he felt obligated to talk to the wait staff about the wings we received. He told them about the good reviews and good sauce and then noted that the wings were lacking substance and were overcooked. He was told that this is the way they make them ""extra-crispy"" and that if we wanted meat we should have asked for them ""plump"". Needless to say, we ended up leaving and going to another restaurant for dinner because we were still hungry. My advice- stay away from this place unless sauce covered, crispy bones are your thing. Maybe try asking for ""plump"" if you do go... but really.. just don't go. more

Bad Service. Food took forvever. 3/8/2010

I went with my husband, two kids and 3 friends to this place for the first time last friday. I will never go back. We walked in on a friday night and proceeded to find a place to sit. There was a full house but we found a booth to accomodate us. Whoops...table dirty and still had last customers food on it. So we backed up and waited by the front door until we could ask someone to clean it. A waitress approched us soon after and told us to go ahead and have a seat at the dirty table. She said she would be by in a few minutes to clean the table. We did not sit. Just waited for the table to be cleaned. Finally got seated. Waitress took our drink order and said she would be back in a few minutes. Came back about 10 minutes later with drinks and took our food order. Food took about 1/2 hour. We ordered 2 dozen wings, a chicken salad, a cheese burger and a roast beef sandwich. In the mean time....one of our friends at the table ordered wings to-go. By the time we were finished with our meal and the check came, we were wondering what happened to the to-go order. The waitress said, ""oh my gosh, they didn't bring it to you?. Let me go check on that."" Of course the food was not prepared. There was also a problem with the bill. At the bottom of the receipt...the bill jumped from $81.00 to $122.00. When my friend went to inquire about it.....that was a whole other mess. Just an aweful experience. SUCKED!! Pros: drink specials Cons: service more

where are you people? 12/10/2009

I am visiting in Cary, NC for a week, and I had a severe hankering for buffalo wings. After doing some research on the web, I wanted to give Em R Wings a try. I looked at their website to make sure it would be open after my girlfriend and I saw a movie, and the website claims it's open Tuesday - Saturday from 11 AM to 10 PM. Well it's a Thursday and I showed up there at 9:25 PM, starving, and found the place locked up with no lights on. Even the sign on the door says it should be open until 10 PM on a Thursday night. There was no sign saying ""sorry we closed early tonight"" or ""didn't you know it's ""Labor Day II?"" Unprofessional to say the least, and very dissappointing. more

Not a fan of the wings 10/29/2009

The wings are way too dry and lack sauce. I'm not sure about the owner, I've never had a bad encouter with management. I just figured the wings would have been much better if that's what your restaurant is named after more

Good food and experience! 10/21/2009

My wife and two young boys had a good time at Em-R Wings. The food is tasty (good wings and sandwiches), our server was friendly, and the prices reasonable. The manager John was really nice to us too. While it is tucked away in the back of the building, it is one of those hidden places you would go back to. We will definately be returning again soon. Pros: Great wings and sanwiches more

What really happened on lun007's visit to em r wings 11/12/2008

The family came in to the restaurant in a rowdy fashion and the children were not well behaved or quiet. One of them kept requesting, with temper tantrums, to go outside and see the ""pretty motorcycles"" out front, so the father obliged about 7 or 8 times, going in and out each time and bothering the owners of the motorcycles and other bar customers. I saw the father leaving right when the food came out. I went outside to investigate.I asked what the problem was and they did say ""the food took to long"". I agreed with them and told them that there was a large order prior to their's and that delayed their order. The father said"" that is ridiculous because there was no one else in the restaurant but them"" and I said we also do take-out orders as well. HIS wife then told him to go pay for the food so I would not call the cops for fraud, she was very embarrased by his behavior and his yelling in front of their kids in public. Upon paying the bill he said he ""was a regular customer"" and he asked if the restaurant was under new owners. We have owned em r wings for 8 years and he did not know that plus none of the staff recognized them and we are there everyday. Not very regular at all. He then said that ""it was not that much money .why the big deal"". I asked him ""if someone took 40 bucks from you would it matter or would your boss care if you took 40 bucks from him"". NO response, I guess stealing is OK with him. He then tried to use his kids as the excuse for him acting like he did and I said ""you chose to bring them here so stop trying to blame them for you acting like a fool, not a pro-choice or life thing at all. GET A GRIP. if he would have mentioned there was a problem instead of sneaking out of the restaurant like a common criminal there would not have been a problem but he had lost his patience with his kids and felt he could act anyway he wanted and he did. I was protecting my interests by getting money owed to me by the fraudulent customer. . Pros: nice neighborhood pub Cons: not big enough more

Owner is offensive and rude 10/8/2008

After years of being semi-regular customers and bringing numerous friends (who also became semi-regulars) to the establishment, we will never, ever go back to Em R Wings again. Here's what happened to us the last time we attempted to eat there: Pros: Wings Cons: Service is bad, owner is worse more

Bad Wings, Filthy Place. 1/29/2008

Dirty place, bad staff and for this place to be a specialty wing joint, they have a lot of explaining to do. Inconsistant sauce, bad produce, weak portions of Blue Cheese or Ranch. For example I order 25 wings, they give me 2 ozs of just one kind of dressing? She likes Blue Cheese I like Ranch, duh. They charge extra for a second dressing with an order of 25 wings, I could maybe understand on 10 wings, but on 25? Give me a break you cheap skates. more

Don't bother..... 1/12/2008

I really wanted to like this food. We ordered wings (hot), onion rings (most were burnt), ""batter-fried fries (didn't see any batter and they were limp and lukewarm), and a cheeseburger (it was ok). The wings were a disappointment. Not much meat on them and they were swimming in sauce. Yuk. We'd love to see a Buffalo Wild Wings open around here. We frequented one in Wilmington NC that had the BEST wings around. A large selection of sauces and make sure youask for them RE-GRILLED. Yummy. As far as EMR Wings, we won't be going back....... Cons: Nasty place, smoke filled, dark, food was bad more
