Absolutely unreal! I'm still in shock. I saw Dr. Anderson tonight for the first time, and he was literally half asleep when he saw my dog! I took her in because she had severe diarrhea and an open, oozing sore on her tail. I had also noticed that she had started losing mass amounts of fur over the past couple of days. She had been diagnosed with an auto-immune disease about 4 months ago and was recently weened off of a hard-core steriod (prednisone). I explained my concerns and her history to him, as he fought to keep his eyes open. After I was done talking, half-awake Dr. Anderson got down to her level and said, ""so are you concerned about the diarrhea?"" (isn't that why I'm here?!) Then I had to remind him to look at the lesion. He didn't even remember that this was one of the main reasons I had come in! He was not concerned. So I questioned him about the 3 handfuls of fur I had managed to collect while we waited for him to wake up (heard the vet tech knock on his door several times). He said that it was a side effect of the prednisone. I reminded him that she was no longer on prednisone. I could tell this caught him off guard. His response was, ""yeah, I have a long-haired dog and they shed a lot this time of year. It's normal."" This loss of fur (and nearly bald patch on her leg) was not normal! At this point, I was done. He made no attempt to understand her situation, history, or to get answers. I've spent thousands (over a grand at this location) on my dog in the past year. She is family to me, and if I take her to the vet at 1:00 AM for an emergency appt, the vet should at least pretend to care.
