Dr. De Giacomo gave us info that was later found to be false. She is also very difficult to deal with, is uncooperative and inaccessible. If you love your pet, do not take it there. more

Dr. DeGiacomo has been my vet for 11 years. She takes all the time I need at each appointment. When my dog ate something toxic at a park, Dr. D saved Oodles's life. She even called me to check up on Oodles. And whenever I email her with a question, she always answers promptly. I've never met a more caring, committed vet. more

There are so many serious issues with ACF. Why don't all of you file a class action against this place? At the very least, maybe this place will be put out of its misery! more

5 Stars to all the posts here and not to ACF, for ACF zero Stars. Mahalo nui loa. I was so totally thinking of bringing my 3 month old pup and a 4 year old dog for Neutering. Thanks to this post, I'm so not driving that far to get bad news about my own pet. This is crazy. I'll just wait for this ""hiatus"" with The Hawaiian Humane Society and get a certificate for $$$ then paying a visit to ACF. Just not well. Hewa! Hewa! more

Last Friday (4/13/12)...we had an extremely traumatizing experience with one of our furry kids. We took our healthy cat in to be neutered at AFC. Several hours later we were notified that she was fine and cleared to be picked up. We we running late and arrived there at 8:05 pm and found the gate and elevator into the building locked. For 15 minutes +, we called both the office numbers as well as the emergency numbers repeatedly...no answer. Thankfully, the building superintendent saw us and opened the gate. My fiance went directly into the office where the tech said only this: I need your ID for the medication, this is your bill and there is your cat. When he brought her out of the office, It was clearly evident that she was in major distress. She was completely unresponsive, tongue hanging out of her mouth, gums white, eyes half opened and fully dilated and cold!!! Again we called both the office and the emergency number to no avail. We immediately headed to another animal hospital, unfortunately within 10 minutes of leaving the AFC she stopped breathing while in my arms. Nevertheless, we sped to the animal hospital to see if she could be saved. After an extensive examination (necropsy) by the second doctor, it was determined that she died from internal bleeding. He found that there was no sign of a suture on the left side of her uterus and only one on the right side. We were told that blood had already pooled on one side of her body causing discoloration which indicated to me that her bleeding was not sudden. Needless to say, the sorrow of losing her only ignited my ire. Upon speaking with Dr, Di Giacomo, she attempted to deflect responsibility then and continues to do so now even after the presented with the findings of the second doctor. As far as I'm concerned, this horrific experience could only be due to negligence on the part of the AFC. Long story short: DON'T EVER TAKE YOUR FURRY LOVED ONES TO ANIMAL CARE FOUNDATION because this may happen to you!!! more

They attempted to scare me with with the worst case scenarios and wanted me to do a diognostic for almost $2000. The vet is evil and will attempt to extort money from you by playing on your fear and sadness, they definetly didn't care about my pet... I took my sweetie and left immediately after i realized their motive, I knew she wasn't going to get better in that environment. I WISH I HAD LISTENED TO OTHERS ABOUT THIS PLACE!!!!! more

This is the WORST and most unprofessional vet practice I have ever come across. We chose this vet based on convenience of location and really regret that decision now. Prepare for your pet to be muzzled and to be told that you can't go back to the examining room with your pet. So if you are looking to traumatize your pet ... this is where you take them! more

I have had several horrible experiences here and sadly, when an emergency arrives sometimes you don't have a choice. Very cold upon arrival. I knew my animal (a little kitten I found was starving, sick, bloated with rigid abdomen and seemingly blind), I've had so many pets thru the years, even though I wanted to believe there was a chance I knew in my heart there wasn't. Long story short the vet guilted me into admitting it, saying give it a chance and that they thought the cat would pull thru.\r \r God, I never learn. So I did my best to pay a lot of fees and the cat was there for 5 days. (Well over 600 dollars.) Never got better. When I would go to visit they would leave me waiting forever and then hand me a wet and i hear the kitty would scream like it was still hungry. I asked if it was eating and they were like Oh yes! I went to this clinic one time and will never go back. First of all, they kept me and my very nervous dog waiting for 45 minutes in the waiting roon. Then my dog's entire exam and treatment was performed in the back room. I like very much to be a part of my dog's plan of care, however, at this clinic I felt pushed to the side. The Vet I saw had the worst bed side manner I have ever encountered. My husband and I both thought that she didn't even like animals by the way she was acting. I'd hate another person to regret that choice and risk their pet life.....This vet is incompetent , crazy, and will rip you off... My sole regret in life is brining my cat to this horrible vet. It was an emergency situation on a given Friday and my normal vet was closed. I ended up at Dr. Giacomo office because I was in a bind with my vet not being open. BIG MISTAKE. Long story short... I was over charged and my cat was mistreated which lead to his near death. Thankfully my vet was able to save his life, but it was rocky road to recovery that took months. Had a vet who actually knew what they were doing treated my cat in the first place it would not have been a dire situation. I was quite upset after this whole ordeal, but I can assure you there is no arguing with this vet... the woman is delusional, lies, and admits no wrong. My personal experience with this place sickens me to relate. My cat was on IV and under urgent care for internal problems, I took along a full medical history including copies of bloodwork results and ultrasounds done just days before. The vet I spoke with (an old woman who is lucky I don't recall her name) pressured me to have ALL of these tests redone, claiming that they could not accept the results of tests from other clinics. Desparate to help save my pet, I agreed - adding 1300 dollars to an already steep bill. (Of course, they would not do anything until I paid their estimate in full. More charges followed on the final bill, which had to be paid before I could see my cat.) I should have listened to the reviews on here.....My cat is suffering from their treatment which was supposed to be a very simple procedure, they also charged me incredible amount of money for after treatment. On top of everything the Veterinary was very rude for no reason! I definitely don't recommend this place! more

What KIND of a woman did I leave my kitty with???? One day perhaps I can forgive you, but never myself for the part I played in what my cat must have suffered at your hands. I had him to a vet 3 times in less than a week and then came to you for second opinion. I brought the xays and bloodwork to show you. You agreed there was an obstruction in the bowel. You said you could sometimes get it to pass if you gave a warm IV of water and force fed him. No mention of danger in treatment. I overlooked that little voice inside me as your demeaner was giving off bad vibes. I left my sweet kitty and you called in 2 days to say he died. and I was charged with a bill of $800!! ALL ANIMALS LOVERS,\r \r Do not take your animal to this place... They are a very unprofessional organization and they do not care about your animal at all. My dog died because of them. more

This is a no kill facility. that means that whether imperfect or unadopted the animal lives. They are also against cages for their animals. It is a little crazy since the kitties are roaming throughout the office, but it also gives you more ability to see how a potential adoptee will relate to other animals and free space. It is a nonprofit location as well. So if they rely on fund raising and income from services and adoptions to continue services. It is a great place to find a great companion. more

I am extremely disappointed in this place. And I now realize that they make it a habit of false charges. I went to get paperwork filled so I could send my dog overseas. She filled it out incorrectly. When I went to the USDA for a second signature, they confiscated the paperwork, because the vet did not date it, however it looked as if all the shots were up to date. HE was unable to correct the paperwork due to the date. I thought, no problem. I will go back to the vet and get it done correctly. I never even was allowed to meet with the vet. She filled it out and reexamined my dog. I was given the bill for $170. I was quite surprised. I asked why I was being billed for paperwork that was filled out wrong in the first place. She tried to blame me. I then asked to see the bill and saw that she gave my dog a shot that was not due for another 7 years and she charged my for that. They actually really care about your pet. They are warm people that understand just how precious our pets are to us. I would recommend to any of my friends that they should check them out. more
