Amy Beck not only did an AMAZING job on our wedding cake - but working with her was a breeze. We came up with a unique design and she brought it to life. Our family and friends loved the 3 different layers of cake (chocolate with peanut butter; carrot with cream cheese filling; and almond with chocolate buttercream) -- and the cake also photographed beautifully. Amy Beck was our cake designer for our July 2009 wedding. When I started planning the wedding at the end of 2008, a friend recommended Amy Beck Cake Design - ""amazing cake, great price, and don't miss her chocolate bourbon cake, my guests are still talking about it! My friend was dead on right. Since cake is one of my favorite indulgences - I know a good cake when I taste one. I didn't even bother with other tastings once I did my tasting with Amy. Everything was amazing, especially that chocolate bourbon cake! We went with a cupcake tower, which allowed me to have 6 different cake/frosting combinations! She also designed a groom's cake for us, modeled after my husband's running shoe (we are both marathon runners). It was such a good copy that one of my male guests, also a runner, came up to me and said, so Dave wears a Brooks Axiom 3 too? Now, its my guests who can't stop raving about our wedding cake and cupcakes! I highly recommend Amy Beck Cake Design. My husband and I did a number of cake tastings around the Chicago area before coming across Amy Beck Cake Design. We wanted a great tasting wedding cake - but one that was customized for us. Amy was an absolute PLEASURE to work with - she was so energetic. She sat with us for over an hour sketching out cake designs, asking questions, and allowing us to taste some cake samples. When we finally got to see the cake at our wedding we were THRILLED. It was exactly what we wanted in terms of design and tasted DELICIOUS. There was none left by the end of the event - all our guests were gushing about how unqiue and delicious our cake was! Thank you Amy! Amy designed our wedding cake. We went through photos together, showed her what we liked, then she made sketches incorporating details and our own requests for design. It was the most gorgeous cake, and it turned out so much better than I even hoped it would. The guests made so many positive comments about how creative, beautiful and delicious this cake was, and even the photographer must have taken 20 photos of it. Amy was easy to work with, friendly, creative, and excellent at her job! The cake was delivered on time and she took care of the details. I can't say enough good things about Amy Beck! I fell in love with her cake the moment I tasted it at a bridal expo and knew I had to have her do our wedding cake! Amy was an absolute dream to work with! She was the perfect no-stress wedding vendor! She took our theme and ideas and made them into a cake that was uniquely ours. She even put glitter on the cake! Our cake was delivered on time and looked AMAZING! Her attention to detail is remarkable. Once people tasted it most asked for seconds! Two weeks after our wedding we unfroze some of the leftover cake to have with friends and it tasted like it was made that morning! Even the piece that was in our fridge for a week never got stale. Now that's quality! Amy Beck is definately my baker for life! She's simply the best. You haven't tasted real cake until you've had an Amy Beck cake! more

I found Amy on the internet after looking for weeks for a high end cake designer for a cake for our child's first birthday. We wanted someone who would listen to our ideas and translate them into cake and she far exceeded our expectations! My husband and I met with Amy in her charming bakery, sampled her delicious cakes and frostings, talked about what we wanted and had a great time. Amy is qualified, that goes without saying. What makes her unique is her ability to take what you want and deliver it - only better than you could ever imagine. We featured her cake at the party, and everyone who came in the room commented on how fun it looked, and how creative and unique it was. AND THEN THEY TASTED it... we had carrot on top, chocolate in the middle and vanilla on the bottom - what a success. Most people had TWO pieces. Thank you, Amy, for not only creating a cake that was heaven to look at, but a slice of heaven to eat as well! more

Getting married? Brides, if you want a bakery that can master both presentation and taste, look no further. Amy Beck is the one vendor you cannot go wrong with! She is the nicest lady to work with, so passionate about her work and so willing to carry out what you envision. But more importantly, her cakes are phenomenal! She created the most beautiful, classy cake--exactly what I requested, even down to the sugar magnolia. And on the inside--the bourbon chocolate cake was delicious, an absolute favorite amongst all of our guests. I cannot recommend Amy enough. She will be my go-to baker for life! more

She knew exactly what would look good with our wedding decor and designed the most BEAUTIFUL wedding cake! Not only was the design amazing, but the flavor was unbelievable! She mixed together so many amazing flavors for a taste test that it was difficult to choose what filling we wanted for our wedding cake because everything tasted so good! We received so many compliments from the guests at our wedding on not only how beautiful the cake was but also the great taste! I'm a first time mother of the bride and to say the least, my daugher and I were overwhelmed with the choice confronting us in planning a wedding. We found Amy Cake Designs on the internet and my daughter knew immediately that this was the bakery for her. Every cake was so different and unique and of course beautiful. Well we made an appointment to see Amy and everything else is history. From the tasting to the delivery she was so wonderful to work with. We had tasted two other,sort of, famous bakers in the city. Dry and tasteless and very unfriendly attitde. But when we got to Amy's shop, it was like we were having our own tea party. The cakes were displayed on china plates and tasted like heaven. It was a challenge to finally decide on the flavors and fillings . But the final cake design was an easy one to pick more

I have had the opportunity to work with Amy on 2 different occasions -- one for my sister's baby shower and the other for my nephew's Baptism! Amy has the ability to create wonderful cake designs just by hearing what the theme of your event is! For my sister's baby shower and nephew's Baptism, Amy asked me just a couple of questions and out of my answers, she came up with amazing designs! Amy Beck was such a pleasure to work with! I recently threw a baby shower for a friend who has a nursery theme of rag sock monkeys. I wanted to do something special for the shower, so I called Amy to see what she could come up with. Amy was professional and friendly, and suggested she make an actual sock monkey for a cake! Amy Beck's cakes are extremely beautfiul and creative! She made a gorgeous cake for my wedding reception last summer. Since I had two separate ceremonies with a lot of colors and themes, I found Amy to be extremely flexible and pleasant to work through all the details with.
