Editorial review from Citysearch 11/7/2013

I read roseslug's review about their office assistant and entirely agree. I haven't hired a roofing company yet, but based on the rotten attitude, poor attention to detail, and lack of communication from their office, I will almost certainly look elsewhere for my re-roof. more

Awful Expeirence 4/1/2011

I opted for the highest quality roof Alvarado offered; the proposal was $8500, but as I was paying cash, they knocked off $1000. If I'd known that the $1000 discount was the price of professionalism, I'd either have gone with the higher estimate or a different company. The work was done quickly; they told me two days, it took one. But when it was ""done"", there was garbage left in my yard (two vents they pulled out of the roof, tree clippings, candy wrappers, gatorade/red bull bottles in hedges, roofing material in my pond) as well as utility blades, staples and cigarette butts in the yard. To cap if off, they knocked over a fence and also DIDN'T EVEN RE-INSTALL the swamp cooler! They just left it on the roof about 10 feet from the vent.! I've had other roofs redone before, and NO ONE has ever not reinstalled what they removed or left the quantity of trash in he yard. I called to complain, and they offered to send someone out to clean up the trash (no mention of the AC); but if they didn't respect the property when they were being paid, what are they going to do afterwards? I sent them pictures of the mess they left, and I got back a one line ""apology"" (which really only addressed the trash) followed by a request for payment. Completely inconsiderate. A week later, I have a flat tire; I haven't checked it yet, but I'm sure it's a roofing staple. That's the kind of professionalism you can expect. They are, however, very polite on the phone and in person, and they were flexible with my schedule, but my overall impression is that they just don't care. It hasn't rained yet, so I can't say anything about the quality of the work. If I had to do it again, I'd definitely choose someone else. more

Terrible customer service - can't deal with monsoon season 8/28/2006

The work this company does is fine, as far as I can tell. Where they earn such a poor rating is for the unprofessionalism and nastiness of the woman who handles their customer service.\r \r As I'm writing this, ABQ is experiencing extreme amounts of rain, even for monsoon season. A lot of roofs are leaking, and this company is overbooked. I don't mind that - I understand how long it takes when you're normally a small company and because of freak conditions you get swamped.\r \r But the woman who handles appointments and customer service doesn't return phone calls. She repeatedly mixes up appointments. She never apologizes for a mix-up or miscommunication. She makes appointments for you and then never tells you about them.\r \r What prompted me to write this is that she apparently hired on some temp help, then left the girl to make calls to customers ALONE on a Friday night, with no training or experience, and apparently no knowledge of how to read an appointment book. The appointments were all screwed up, and the girl called to remind me of an appointment for the following Monday I'd never made, when I couldn't possibly get off work, and then couldn't find the appointments I HAD made. She could answer none of my questions, had no supervisor to help, and did not apologize or promise to call me back with more information. When I finally got the supervisor woman to call me (repeated attempts), she told me how horrible I was to her ""assistant"" (later caling her ""new, inexperienced, know-nothing""), how unprofessional. She never apologized, just lectured me about how many 100s of customers they have, how she's so stressed out, the girl doesn't know anything, and ""yeah right, like I'd be here at 6 o'clock on a Friday night."" But somehow it's okay to leave the new girl there by herself.\r \r Chances are, you can find a roofer who can both fix your leak and not use their customers as punching bags. Pros: Repairs are good. Cons: Customer service is awful, don't show up when they say they will (hours late) more
