Worth every star! 12/28/2012

It has been 2 years since I moved to Seattle from Mission Viejo and I am still looking for a vet that comes close to Dr. Wheaton and his team and every time I take my cats to a vet here in Seattle I wish that is was Dr. Wheaton we were seeing. \r \r Alicia Pet Care is clean, smells nice, uses modern equipment, has a brilliant adoption palace and charges exactly what I expect to pay. From an operational perspective...they are a dream in the world of vet clinics. And Dr.Wheaton also posts excellent informational videos on their website. If I have a question, I will check their first before engaging on a grueling journey through the internet of possibly true and possibly not true advice.\r \r I had three cats at the time, 19 years, 16 years, and 10 years. Literally out of the blue, my 16 year little old man developed a bump on his chin. We took him on a Saturday to a random vet (prior to my discovery of APCC). My service was about 2 stars and I left with no answers and eyes full of tears. more

Highly recommend Drs. Wheaton and 6/4/2012

Highly recommend Drs. Wheaton and Northrop, especially for those dogs that pose more unique diagnostic challenges. No, this office is not the least expensive, nor is it the most expensive. However, I have two medically fragile dogs: one with external hepatic shunts (holes in the liver) and one with more severe brain issues (severe hydrocephalus and syringomyelia). Both were originally cared for by another local vet office. The dog with shunts began to worsen and the then-vet brushed it off. I insisted on a diagnostic ultrasound and immediately moved his care to Dr. Wheaton because I'd heard good things about the care. On the first visit, Dr. Wheaton addressed the results of the test (I was right) and asked me how I wanted to proceed. No forced treatment plans, no additional diagnostics. When we agreed on the plan, he immediately got the dietary department at UC Davis involved and I paid for a custom diet (with these dogs, it's managed with diet and lactulose). Yes, it was $250, but I saved that in two months from not having to buy special foods (the diet is much simpler than what I was doing) or any additional diagnostic tests. And, this dog is doing INCREDIBLY well. Mind you, my other vet attended UC Davis and could have suggested the same test. But didn't. I've never spent a better $250 and saved both my dog and my wallet. Pros: null Cons: null more

Great office! Have been going there for years... 5/20/2012

I don't usually do a lot of online reviewing, but was just curious about reading the reviews for my vet. I was motivated to write when I saw that people were complaining about the prices here. I happened upon this vet, by coincidence... (My dog gets car sick and I needed a place that was within an 1 hour walk from my house) I had been going to a chain type vet clinic that had moved locations. I was pleasantly surprised to find Dr. Wheaton and Dr. Forman. The have both been great. They are both very kind and do a great job of explaining things carefully, so there is no confusion. They also take time to be thorough with the animals, which is nice... When I was in with the vet on my first visit, my Mother was waiting in the reception area. Later she told me that while she was waiting she had received GLOWING reviews about Dr. Wheaton from the other people who had been coming there for a while. I was happy that I had stumbled upon a great vet and have had nothing but great care ever since. As for the COST. I found that in general, I spend less on my visits there than I ever did at the Chain clinic. Perhaps some things might be a bit more expensive, but overall the superior care is well worth it. Medications are never cheapest at vet's offices, but there are other options for that... Pros: null Cons: null more

Bad Experience 3/28/2012

The facility is nice. Fish tank in the front waiting room, clean office, higher end pet food and products. It is overpriced by 40% for prescription drugs versus Pet Meds.\r \r Our young dog was diagnosed with cancer and Dr. Wheaton removed it. We had a bad experience though. Dr. Wheaton was insensitive and had poor people skills. He said we were too sensitive and to "put ear plugs in" when our dog came home yelping and hyperventilating from surgery for 3 days straight. He didn't give us options so we took her into an urgent care multiple times over the next couple of days and those doctors/surgeons didn't agree with Dr. Wheaton and gave her sedatives and medicine so she would sleep in peace while recovering. \r \r If we didn't have the surgery experience with Dr. Wheaton (i.e. just normal check-ups) we would still go. Just pray that you don't have to deal with this doctor during a major animal crisis. Our new vet in Huntington Beach is all about the animals, reasonably priced and more

The Very Best Vet 11/2/2011

Dr. Wheaton and his staff are the best. The care your pet receives here is top notch. My dog Buddy suffered a horrendous heat stroke a few weeks ago and almost died. Dr. Wheaton and his experienced staff saved his life and gave Buddy a second chance. We have been going to the clinic since 2005, but never really had a problem until a few weeks ago. I can now safely say that if you just need routine care OR have some sort of a trauma with your pet, Alicia Pet Care Center is where you want to be. I give my highest recommendation to this clinic to take care of your animals. Pros: null Cons: null more

BE AWARE! 1/18/2011

They gave my cats medicine claiming they were distressed and had infections (Dr. didn't seem knowledgeable) and said "Here's some antibiotics". Once I got home, I gave my cat and kitten their antibiotics and it made them puke all over the place. The next day I called the office letting them know that my cats were vomiting and the girl on the phone said she will switch them for me.\r \r ***Note I had just moved to the area from Costa Mesa and was looking for a vet just as good as my previous one*** \r \r Well, when I got there I went to pick up the medication, they wanted me to pay again. I told them thats not right because apparently they gave me medication for DOGS and I shouldn't have to pay full price again. The girls started arguing with me. They made such a fuss I had to leave because they embarrassed me. I immediately called up a vet who I trusted, but lives too far away for my cats, and let her know my cat's symptoms and medication given. She advised me NOT to go back because th more

Best Veterinarian Care 9/25/2010

Excellent staff and even better vets! These doctors REALLY care about animals. They do more than just take your money and give you the minimum. They truly care for your animals, and they also support a lot of rescue work. You can feel good giving these people your money and knowing it will go further than just helping your animal. I highly recommend bringing your babies here. They will be loved and cared for. I wouldn't bring my animals anywhere else. more

The best animal hospital in So Cal 9/9/2010

I drive 70 miles one way to take my doggies to see Dr. Wheaton and let me tell you, It?s worth it!! He takes his time to explain everything very clearly and covers all his bases by thinking outside the box. I?m confident that nothing ever goes unnoticed. I have found with other vets I have spent more money on BS in the long run and my dog?s medical statis still wasn?t solved. You definitely get what you pay for at Alicia Pet Care Center. more

Caring Animal Hopsital 7/13/2010

I was very pleased with the care my Welsh Springer Spaniel received at Alicia Pet Care Center. She is 13 years old and her skin allergies / itching had gotten increasingly bad . I really thought that I'd tried everything and that it was hopeless ! Dr. Amy Rosencrantz was so caring and helpful and was determined to get my dog some relief . She and Dr. Wheaton worked together and came up with a plan of action. Dr. Rosencrantz made sure that I knew the course of meds would take awhile to kick in and encouraged me to be patient . She was right and I am happy to say that my dogs skin allergies have improved tremendously ! Yes ,some of the new medications being tried for pet allergies are a little pricey but it is a price I'm willing to pay to see my sweet spaniel happy and healthy. Thank you Dr. Rosencrantz and Alicia Pet Care Center. more

Look no further than Alicia Pet Care Center! 6/20/2010

You won't find a more impressive veterinary facility in Orange County than Alicia Pet Care Center. I have taken a number of dogs to Dr. Wheaton for various ailments; many of which were very uncommon conditions; and Dr. Wheaton has been quick to diagnose what other vets have missed and has always taken the extra time and effort to not only come to that diagnosis, but to educate me on the dog's condition and to answer any and all questions that I have. I also do a lot of dog boarding and there isn't cleaner, more well kept veterinary boarding facility than Alicia Pet Care Center; nor is there one where the dogs are taken out of their cages more frequently. If you are looking for excellent veterinary care, a beautiful state of the art facility, and a boarding option for your pets where they will be kept clean, comfortable, and well cared for, look no further than Alicia Pet Care Center! more

Should have waited for the Dr w/the great reviews 6/16/2010

After reading all of the great reviews I felt pretty good about this place... Everyone LOVED the vet. Price for office visit was reasonable ($59), same for vaccines ($36 for group of 3). Pros: Nice place, large staff of assistants? Cons: 1 1/2 hrs spent!! Very inexperience vet! EXPENSIVE scrips!! more

Thanks APCC 4/7/2010

I adopted the perfect dog, in the Marley and Me way, from Alicia Pet Care Center and am so grateful and blessed for the addition to my family. Without a doubt we chose to use Dr. Wheaton as are primary vet through allergy's, surgery and many other situations a first time, ornery, puppy owner could freak out over. Dr. Wheaton has been like a member of our family helping us overcome the challenges of being a first time puppy owner and for that I'm grateful it's not often today a company, The Alicia Pet Care family; aka. all the girls and josh, provides you a service while making you feel like your apart of a family. Most Awesome Veterinary Hospital Around!! 4/6/2010

First off they are doing awesome things for the community. I rescued my cat Moose from the Pet Rescue Center; which is Dr. Wheaton?s rescue run out of Alicia Pet Care Center. I took Moose to Alicia Pet Care Center for all of his kitten shots. The Staff is very friendly and helpful. They taught me how to be a good cat owner. I am a student and have to say that their prices were VERY reasonable especially for my budget. The day I got Moose fixed I was a mess. The staff there really seems to understand what that day is like for a kitty mom like me. When I left I knew he was in the best care possible. I love them and recommend them to everyone I know. Thank you Alicia Pet Care Center and keep up the incredible work!! Pros: The friendly and knowledgeable staff. Cons: None. more

why look anywhere else?! this place is perfect! 4/5/2010

Alicia Pet Care Center is a breath of fresh air. The facility is impeccably clean and the employees are wonderful! The nurses and doctors speak to you on a more personal level rather than the cold treatment found at other clinics. I regularly take my cat in for a teeth cleaning and have always been impressed. This office is highly recommended! more

High quality treatment 4/4/2010

I brought my cat in because he had a nasty cold. The team ran tests and relayed the results in a friendly and personal manner rather than the "doctor speak" I have found at other offices. The office itself is spotless and the front desk staff is welcoming and helpful. I can't recommend this office enough! Pros: Friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere Cons: none more

All Around Excellent Care 4/3/2010

I adopted my pound puppy from the Pet Rescue Center and the vets at Alicia Pet Care Center always provide her with the best of care. The doctor's are all about wellness and preventative care and I always leave with a thorough understanding of how to care for my pup. The staff is very friendly and on a first-name basis with the owners (and pets). Alicia Pet Care Center gets five stars! Pros: Beautiful Facility and Friendly Staff more
