My husband was considering a job change at the beginning of this year, so I began calling around to do some preliminary research on the best options for local headhunters and placement. Due to the executive level of this placement and the confidential nature of his search, my husband did not want to send out his resume to the masses, so I offered to just check around and maybe choose 1-2 excellent options for him to contact personally. When I called the Albrecht Group, the receptionist transferred me to a man that apparently handles executive placement (100K+ range). I told the man that I was checking local executive placement co.'s for the best options, as we didn't want to send the resume out to just anyone. I'm not sure I have ever been 'talked down to' quite this way in my life, in a matter of less than five minutes on the phone. Per his tone and what he told me, they cater to the company that is seeking the position to be filled, not the applicant pool. Quote ""we find people for jobs, not jobs for people"". I'm sure the HR reps from his client companies are treated much differently, but I'm not sure where his stellar candidates are coming from with this type of attitude. This message could most certainly have been communicated without being in every way rude and offensive, as if he was on some type of power trip. I thought for a moment that I had mistakenly called our nation's president in the middle of a world crisis, but Mr. President probably would have been very nice about it. He then tried to offer some haughty sarcastic advice on how I should best spend my time with a job search. My message to him now would be that he forfeited any chance of making a great placement with one of his clients by not having this resume on file. I would steer any of our friends directly away from Albrecht, this was an extremely unprofessional response to a general inquiry.
