A total scam 8/7/2008

It's been years now, but the experience I had at this location was such a complete nightmare I wouldn't recommend Advantage to anyone! We booked a vehicle online for a weekend trip, and upon pick up, they had already rented it out. We were told to take the full size or leave; it was offered to us nearly doubled the agreed amount. Due to our time constraints, we swallowed up the price difference and took it. All the while, we were not negative or had given them any reasons to dislike us, yet they still had the nerve to snicker at us and make ageist comments. We returned the vehicle after hours(1 day early)and when I checked my credit card bill weeks later, they'd charged me for 4 extra days. I called to speak w/ the rep that rented us the vehicle and she'd put me on hold for 20 minutes at a time, then transfer me, then laugh, then hang up and repeated this several times for almost 2 weeks. Finally, I just drove down there to speak with the manager and was shocked to find out that he was even worst than the 2 ladies. I reiterated that I did not rent the vehicle for an add'l 4 days and that I had several witnesses that saw me fill out the paperwork and put the keys in the lockbox. The manager said that even if I was right and they had made a clerical error, they couldn't take responsibility for it - he explained that if a crime was committed in that vehicle during those 4 day I did not rent out the car that they wanted to make sure the company was not liable just me & if they reimbursted me my money, they may be liable. When I was adamant on my case, you can say he flew off the handle, so I just left. I called their HQ to file a complaint and asked if they could follow up on this issue. I never received one and found out a month later they had simply ""lost it"". It angers me the way we were treated, but mostly, it disheartens me knowing they were not only willing to commit fraud for whatever reason, they didn't even try to conceal their prejudices while doing it. more
