Not sure what the previous review is all about, we have been doing business with these guys for years and how they charge for service calls has never really changed. They charge for the initial service call, and if they can't fix the set for the service call fee then they give you an estimate. The estimate is yours to take or leave. As to Mike's, keep in mind that he is out in Leroy in a shop that looks like an old barn, and he requires that you bring your set all of the way out to his shop. In other words, he is charging in shop rates not in home rates(not really fair to compare the two different types of service). We have had several different sets serviced by this company and have been more than satisfied each and every time. more

Do NOT use Advanced Electronics to repair or diagnose your tv! They are dishonest and overpriced! We had white dots appear on our screen and Samsung said that they would pay for parts, we would only be responsible for labor. They connected us to Advanced Electronics, who called us and scheduled to send a tech to diagnose the issue. We asked how much it would cost, & they said they wouldn't have a price unit after someone looked at it. So we waited around all day and after he finally arrived he took a picture of the screen, unhooked the cables, turned the TV around, & after being here about 3 minutes he said it would be at least $270 for repairs in addition to the $75 service fee to come out & make the diagnosis. (So over $340 to fix) we said no thank you, so he said he needed the $75 service fee payment before he left. We hadn't been told there was a fee but he argued with us & said he was standing there when she told us & the office ALWAYS informs customers that $75 is due to the techs upon arrival... no sir. After trying to resolve the issue & him argiing with us, we just wrote a check & he left, with the TV still out, unhooked from the cables, & unplugged. I called the office to complain & the woman says she doesn't always ( & didn't in this case) say there is a fee for coming out cuz its usually covered under warranty. Ours WASN'T. Too bad!! We called Mike's electronics in Leroy & they said we can bring it in & the cost for repairs and service is $115. Total. Too bad we were robbed of $75, now we can't afford to get it fixed...SORRY ethics!! more

Friendly, Quick Service 5/3/2012

Our 60"" LG Plasma started having issues, and AEI is LG's approved warranty service provider in our area. We live about 40 miles from AEI, but Kim scheduled Aaron, the service representative, to come out to our home. Aaron called when he was 20 minutes from our house, and he was polite and professional while at our home. Aaron replaced a couple of components in the tv at LG's recommendation (of course the tv was not acting up while Aaron was here....). When the parts that were replaced did not correct the issue, Aaron scheduled another visit, and he had talked to LG engineers and came out with the parts that would fix the tv. In 15 minutes on the second trip Aaron had the tv working good as new! Thanks AEI - I recommend them to anyone who needs their expensive electronics serviced. Andy Moon more

Awful place to do business! 2/10/2012

Wish I could give them a NO star! Paid this place almost $120 to ""diagnose"" the problem with my tv and to tell me what it would cost for repair. When I was told the repairs would be $540 of course, I didn't get it fixed. I asked them what part needed replaced and the part # but they would NOT give me that information - said it wasn't their policy. I asked for the name of the manager/boss/owner and they gave me a first name but would NOT give me a last name - said it wasn't their policy. I wouldn't recommend doing business with these people! They definitely don't care about the customer and provide the worst customer service I've ever had!! Find someone else to look at your TV. more

Outstanding and Fast service 1/5/2011

After 6 months, our large plasma TV quite working. Had a difficult time dealing with Panasonic to get repair initiated. Called Advanced Electronics and part was in their hands within 24 hours and service to TV was 48 hours from initial call! And we are an hour away from Normal. They dealt with Panasonic for us!! We are still waiting to hear back from Panasonic. more

dishonest service 2/26/2009

Dropped a big screen of there a few days ago. they told me it would be at least a week before i heard back from them. they called the very next day and said what the problem was and that it couldnt be fixed cause zenith hasnt made parts for these for a few yrs. wouldnt they have told me that in the first place when i said how old the tv was? it dosent matter what the problem is. if they dont make parts then it cant be fixed period. also refused to install aftermarket parts. seems like a pretty good money making business. 90 bucks and tell them it cant be fixed. gonna call tomorrow and ask for my money back. more

UNRELIABLE AND DECEPTIVE business!!! Paid $90 for diagnostic/estimate report. They accepted my $ and refused to provide a written report upon request. Further, refused to refund my $. 2/7/2009

brought in a 46"" tv in 10/2008 for repair. Paid $90 for a diagnostic report. A week later i was told it would cost approx $300 to fix, and subsequently agreed to pay. Called later that day and told it would be $300 more than quoted. Advised them to hold off and fax the estimate, as I wanted to send to manufacturer. Waited a week for report and called. Told that employee who examined my tv was sent a request to write report. Called every week for 2.5 mos. and always given an apology and told it would be coming. Arrived at store on 12/22/08 and requested tv and refund. Person who examined tv apologized for delay and said it would be faxed by morning. Called after holiday and informed them that it had not been rec'd. Rec'd apology and again advised that it would be forthcoming. I informed that if the report was not received by 1/5/09 I had no choice but to take tv back. Called 0n 1/8 and advised not received. Told that it would be faxed by morning. Told them I could not tolerate the run-a-round any longer. Report never received. Arrived at store on 1/16 and requested tv and refund. Advised there was a problem they had made the initial $300 worth of repair to tv and would need to take out part, but could not be done until monday. Advised that I was very unhappy as this was the second time I made arrangements for a vehicle to haul tv and did not receive it. Employee appologized and said that she would tell her ""boss"" that the store needed to make special delivery to my home on tuesday or thursday due to all the inconveniences. Arrived at store unexpectedly on 1/26 and was told by the boss refused to deliver. I advised that I would call with time to pick up tv to give them ample time to do disrepair. Called on 1/28 and advised that I would be in on Feb 4th at 5pm to pick up tv and $90 refund. Was advised that was ok. Arrived at store and rec'd tv, but was told that they would not refund my $90 because they do not have to issue the diagnostic estimate/report in writing. Cons: TWO THUMBS DOWN!! more
