*Continue to grow professionally and promote public awareness of alternative health care. *Acupuncture is one aspect of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the oldest, continually practiced medicine in the world. It has flourished in China for thousands of years and is widely practiced in Europe,Asia,Australia, and Canada. Now it is increasingly practiced in the United States as more and more patients and health care professionals are recognizing the effectiveness of Oriental Medicine in the treatment of a variety of health problems
*Acupuncture treatments utilize fine sterile needles inserted at specific points on the body to correct or repair imbalances or blockages in the body?s natural energy flow. In Chinese Medicine this energy flow is called ?Qi? (pronounced Chee). Normal energy flow is vital to maintaining health and well-being. When a blockage of Qi occurs pain and illness often result
*The body contains 12 main meridians or energy highways which are intricately linked to communicate with every cell in the body. When one of these meridians becomes damaged or blocked it is similar to an accident on a highway system; there is damage at the sight of the accident but also a build up behind the wreck, and a lack of flow in front of the wreck. Similarly in the energy flow of the body there can be imbalances and blockage; excesses or deficiencies in some areas, stagnation in others. Acupuncture re-establishes the normal flow of Qi by inserting fine, sterile needles at various acupuncture points
