I have, over several years, had NOTHING but good luck taking my car and truck to Alex. He does beautiful work and has never, ever overcharged me. When my daughter's 2003 Nissan stopped working, her mechanic in Salem told her the engine was shot and offered her $700 for her car. I convinced her to take it to Alex and he fixed it for under $300. I won't take my vehicles anywhere else. Pamela\r more

I had just purchased a car from 2/24/2012

I had just purchased a car from Affordable Auto Wholesale and it broke down on me on the way home. Long story short John Hill the owner of Affordable said he would only take it to his mechanic. So he took it to Alex Ortega at A & M Auto. When I called Alex to ask him what he thought may be wrong he said it may be the steering column, but he would let me know. 2 days later he called and said I could pick up my vehicle. He said it was the distributor. He said he had test driven it, that all was well now, and assured me it was safe because I was most concerned about that. He refused to give me an invoice for the the repairs because he works for John. So I asked him was there ANYTHING else that needed attention or that I should be aware of. He said emphatically ""no.""\r Right away I noticed that though the engine did sound smooth, the Anit-lock brake light was coming on intermittently. I didn't think anything of it because the brakes seemed to be fine and at least now the car I just bought is running. Then the steering started getting ""weird"" on left turns. The steering would tighten and and the brakes would lock up slightly. Left turns, go figure. Within two weeks of Alex Ortega ""fixing"" my car the brakes went out totally and the steering column locked up on a left turn in traffic. We narrowly missed being sideswiped. I tried calling him to discuss it with him but he would not return my calls. I called Affordable Auto to try to resolve this with them and when I mentioned that the mechanic who did the work wouldn't call me back, I was told that he said - get this - that he felt that I was attracted to him and I made him uncomfortable so he didn't want to talk to me. \r It is my opinion that Mr. Ortega either knowingly left this vehicle in dangerous condition OR he is a lousy mechanic who messed up somehow. Either way, he is defintely in the pocket of Affordable Auto, and he clearly has no personal integrity. Yes, I plan on suing him, right after I'm done with John Hill. \r PS - the weird attraction accusation/excuse should be enough for you women out there to think twice before going to him. more

They told me that my transmission was 12/11/2011

They told me that my transmission was bad, and I needed to get it replaced. It was just low on transmission oil and now it works fine. Don't go here, you'll get scammed! more
