Best Massage in Carmel 7/22/2008

My husband and I received a couples massage here recently and it was awesome! They took us on short notice, were very professional and was in very close walking distance from our hotel in Carmel. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely go back. Mary knows her stuff! more

Best Massage Experience! 6/23/2008

This was probably one of the best massages that I have ever experienced. Mary, the owner of the shop, was great! Her customer service was the best I've ever received when getting a message. She's also caring and really cares about your overall well being. I will definitely come back and take my mom here. Don't let the exterior of the store mislead you, the place is very clean and inviting. more

Great Atmosphere and Customer Service 6/1/2008

Great massage. You pay for what you get, so more is better as far as I am concerned. Mary is the best massage therapists in Carmel, CA. Pros: Relaxing Massage Cons: None more

Best massage in Carmel! 6/1/2008

Mary (the owner and massage therapist) is one of the best massage therapists I have ever had. She is trained in all types of massage therapy and uses a combination of techniques to meet the needs of every individual client. Each massage is catered in both the techniques used and the time allowed per body part to what the client needs. During my massage, she used a combination of Swedish, Thai, and Shiatsu to both stretch out my over-exercised muscles and give me a relaxing massage. My husband, who had just injured his back, was given a massage using Thai, Swedish, Deep Tissue, hot rocks, and chiropractic realignment techniques. I was impressed by her knowledge of alternative medicine and her application of these theories to her massage therapy. I would definately recommend her to anyone who wants or needs a massage. I can't wait to get another massage the next time we are in Carmel! Pros: Excellent massage, individualized technique, beautiful murals on the walls. Cons: Can get expensive when she goes over an hour if she feels that you need the extra time. more

Just OK and too expensive 5/29/2008

I thought it was way too expensive for what it was. Mary is very nice, but the service was average. The price was outrageous and the facilities are poor. Get the total upfront. A price was listed as $60 on line and when the service was finished, it was $120!! She said it was because she went for an hour (1 hour) instead of 30 minutes. The massage was not 2 hours. This was my first and last service here. I am not a repeat client. I could have gone to a much better place for under $120. The Spa at Pebble Beach would have been $135. Bernardus Spa would be $135. She should have told me that in the beginning or along the way. more

Totally healing experience 4/13/2008

Mary really knows her stuff. She talked with me and observed my posture and alignment and then decided what would best help with my issues. Her therapy session with me was extremely benificial. If you need real help she is the best I have found in this area. I can not recommend her more highly. more

Most pleasant surprise of the weekend! 4/9/2008

Great surprise. I spent 3 hours with Mary on a surprise weekend getaway with my boyfriend. The setting is extremely personal and cozy and I felt comfortable as soon as I entered and met Mary. I asked for a facial that she could personalize after looking at my skin. What I received was the best facial I've ever had (and I have visited many salons/spas in the San Francisco Bay Area.) The quality of the products and the method in which applies them is extremely soothing and healing. I have had redness in different areas that other facials have not reduced but since Mary's facial, the redness has definitely decreased. I had a small pimple that she worked on that had disappeared by dinner that night. Great facial, great company...I am recommending Happy Day Spa to all friends who visit Carmel. (She also has great recommendations for restaurants since she has lived in the area for quite a while.) Pros: Skill and knowledge in application, Completely comfortable environment more

Excellent service, pleasant personnel, clean premises 4/1/2008

I had my first Thai massage at A Happy Day Spa in Carmel. It was interesting. If you like a deep tissue massage, then this would be perfect. I had never had one before so it was very different. My daughter had a massage because she was having sinus issues - I think it helped her to avoid getting a sinus infection. She enjoyed it very much. Overall, we found this spa very accomodating and enjoyable. We were on vacation and they were the first on the list in Carmel. We would go there again. Pros: Very clean Cons: None more

great deep-tissue massage 2/24/2008

The last reviewer was right about the entrance to the spa; it doesn't seem like anything special but inside it definitely looks and feels like a spa and the services (massage) were great. My friend and I were in town for a girls-getaway and decided to get a massage at Happy Day Spa (without any recommendation--we found them online under Carmel Day Spas). Mary could not have been more gracious and knowlegeable. The massage was great (I get regular massage therapy at home for migranes)--I've had many so-so massages at expensive hotels so now I go outside the hotel spa for massage and Mary was one of the best. The place is nicely set up inside, small, clean, friendly and professional. I (and my friend) will definitely go back when we're in the area, and have already recommended it to friends who live in and around Carmel. Pros: convenient location, experienced therapists. Cons: none more

Do not be fooled by the outside, this is truly a spa experience 1/15/2008

The outside of this day spa may be deceiving. A little off the beaten path, and a small storefront give this spa the impression of not being anything special. Well, first impressions are wrong! This is a special place. I went to this spa for a facial with my two sisters who both got massages. The facial was incredible. The owner, Mary, promised me that people would comment on my "glowing skin", and she was right! Later that day we went to my Mother's house, and she immediately said, "your skin looks like it's glowing". The facial was the probably the most un-obtrusive I have had. No picking, or special equipment. Mary used only product on my face, but this product really worked. In addition, Mary gives an acupuncture facial massage with the facial. Not only did I have clear, glowing skin, I also walked away with a true feeling of a spa experience. I felt relaxed and rejuvenated. I would highly recommend the Haven Day Spa in Carmel, California. Pros: Skill level and experience of staff, atmosphere, results of services Cons: None more
