99 Ranch is Great! 8/23/2006

I love this store. I rotate my weekly shopping among three stores: Thriftway, Central Market and 99 Ranch. They each have their strong and weak points. 99 Ranch can be crowded and often has long lines at checkout. And they are limited on some things that we tend to take for granted - breads or cheese. And, as mentioned elsewhere, you want to sort through the produce carefully. But if your like me, and want to add a lot of diversity to your dinners at a low price, this is *the* place to shop. You can find spices you never heard of. Squid tubes for stuffing. Abalone-flavored ramen. Duck feet (I use them to make duck stock). Fresh seafood (some of it still swimming around). Thin sliced beef short-ribs. Bitter melon. Dozens of varieties of Kim Chee. Coconut vinegar. Durian. Garlic chives. Lime leaves. I love to cook, and I love trying out new things. This place is paradise for someone like me. more

Try Ranch 99 for Asian Grocery 4/14/2006

Ranch 99 is a nice Asian grocery store. It is a big grocery store with a variety of goods that fits all my needs, fresh vegetables, meat, fish, frozen foods, convenient foods and all oriental spices. The goods are well organized and labeled compared to most of the small stores in China town. Price is higher than what you expect in China town but a lot lower than other Asian stores such as Uwajimaya. The fresh vegetables are not as fresh though. more

Need a duck 4/12/2006

This is of the few places where Alex and I can satifsy our cravings for roasted duck and pork. Tucked away in a far corner of Ranch 99, the butcher shop is the place to be if you are in the mood for some meat. Just like how they used to make it down home. Be warned, this is not for the light of heart--carnivores only please. more

Groceries for less 4/12/2006

The aisles may be narrow and crowded, and you may get shoved by a small Asian woman trying to get the last sale item, but the low prices that you find at Ranch 99 offset the annoyances. Cheap and aplenty seem to be the motto of this Asian grocery store. You may need to sift through the display to find some good looking produce, but with Fuji apples going for something like 75 cents a pound regularly, compared to 1.50 or more at the American grocery stores, who cares! more

Thanks Guys! And new ideas dug out from the dark. 4/1/2006

Thanks for all of your input. I'll be branching out pretty soon. On the topic, I've remembered that there's a little food area in Ranch 99 (off of Aurora, 1 mi past Costco). You know, those cheap Asians--uh I mean dishes. (I'm working on the self hate) Also, I heard that Blue C Sushi has a pretty good happy hour, something like dollar dishes. Lastly, Red Mill burgers are also pretty good--ahh crisp bacon! more

Asian Groceries on the Other Side of Town 3/24/2006

So, just today, I discovered that there is another 99 Ranch Market in Everett. I've been visiting the Kent store for years, but apparently, there is also a store much further up. The store building itself looks quite old. It doesn't have the new feeling like the Kent facility, but the grocery stock seems to be even better with more different types of items for sale. Also, it was considerably less crowded, which makes it worthwhile alone! The BBQ meat section had the basics, but probably not as much stuff as the Kent store. The bakery was similar, but still good nonetheless. Try the butter buns. more

I love going there 12/7/2005

I go shopping there almost every week. They offer fresh crabs.... hmm... yummy.... and other fresh seafood and veggies. You also will find lots of goodies you can't fins anywhere else, like citron honey, hickory nuts, tender beef, sliced lamb (for hot pot) and more. I love walking around the aisles there and you will always find something new you couldn't find in other stores or sth you want to try. They also offer cleaning, steaming or deep frying fish which saved people a lot of time at home. more

Great asian grocery market 9/26/2005

I love this place. It has everything I need for groceries. It has a live seafood department where you can choose certain seafood and have it cleaned upon your request. A full service deli and bakery. Although the staff is a little slow at ringing up the merchandise but they are fairly friendly. Great place to shop for asian groceries! more

Good Fresh veggies and the BEST fruit.. 8/18/2005

I like to get my veggies at another market, but they are just as good here at 99 Ranch Market.. The fruit is also VERY yummy depending on the days.. So far Tuesday's are bests to go in my experience, they usually get shipments in on Tuesday's i believe, and they have a lot of good organic stuff.. They are a little higher priced than other markets, but I really like the quality and consistency at this one.. The cantaloupe.. oh man is it good!! give it a try if your in the area! more
