Not African American Friendly 10/18/2006

A few months back a group of young black proffessionals had a function at this establishment. We called ahead of time to see if we needed a bar minimum, reservations, etc. We were told no, however once we arrived, that all changed. We were all in business attire as most of us came directly from our corporate jobs. Our group mingled and ordered drinks from the bar as any patron would do. The event organizer was pulled aside and asked that we leave because we were making the "other" guests feel uncomfortable. We all took our money elsewhere. Even some of the white people that were in the establishment left with us because they were offended by the request. Black folks: do not spend your money here because they do not want it. • The Scene
Young professionals head to this hopping spot after dinner at nearby Randolph Street restaurants, which explains Fulton Lounge's surprisingly early fill time. Arrive before 11pm to get a seat or at least a standing spot where you won't get bumped into, stepped on or otherwise knocked around by drunk 30-somethings.

    The Draw
Condo owners in the Fulton Street Market area are happy to have a hangout close to home. Its red neon sign signals the singles scene inside. Martinis flow while girls and boys mix and mingle to the appropriately loud and sexy music. Seating options at the wide rectangular space include high-backed velvety couches in a faux library setting and James Bond-mod chairs on the opposite end of the club. A long backlit bar ties the ends together.
