55 West, right in the middle of downtown club life. Yes you hear the ridiculously loud bars until 3 am. Yes you hear the obnoxious train, especially on Sunday and Monday nights, sometimes every half hour. By now I can even tell which train engineers realize people live here and care versus the ones that truly desire to wake everyone up. But I expected most of this when I moved in. But!!!! What I didn't expect was the absolute worst fire alarm system in the universe. It goes off at all hours of the night. And when it does, typically for a half hour at least before it shuts off, then sometimes starts again. Every room of the apartment has its own ridiculously loud alarm and light strobe. There are so many fire alarm, that literally every single tenant ignores them. If there ever is a real fire, we will all most likely die. Sadly, that is not a joke. It has gotten so bad that some tenants actually have disabled the alarms and why not, no one reacts to them anyway, why should they keep us up? Now because so many tenants have disabled them, 55 management and the city of Orlando are going floor by floor to test them all. I just received a notice yesterday that for 3 to 5 days and from 8am to 5pm the alarms will likely be going off and on all day and they check each unit in each floor. Are you kidding me? So management runs a poor alarm system, so bad the tenants have to modify their own safety to have piece of mind and now the tenants are being punished with that stupid alarm for 3 to 5 days. And the bad part, this won't fix 55's fire alarm problem. It will still inconvenience all the tenants. Best advice? Just live elsewhere. It's just not worth it.
