Disappointing. Still, I give three stars because the guy worked fast once we decided what to have done. But at 5 pm the phone dispatcher told me the guy would be there within the hour. The locksmith arrived at past 8. The phone guy also said the price for a deadbolt lock replacement was about $40, plus labor, and that their prices were always very low; and that the guy would give me an estimate when he got there and saw what sort of locks he could use. The locksmith who turned up just started unscrewing the lock immediately when he came in, and then expressed surprise when I stopped him saying I hadn't yet decided to have the work done and I just wanted an estimate. He quoted me $90 for the deadbolt, plus labor, which was more than we wanted to pay, so we just had him do the bottom lock, which he did quickly for $75, and then he asked me to write the check to his name and not the business, which was also weird. The dispatcher had also told me I'd be given options and information to help choose what we wanted to have done, but this guy gave me no options or explanations as to what locks I could use and why. It was just one lock, take it or leave it. I don't want the cheapest lock—and he wasn't giving me any better.
