Review content:
When I came in everyone was very friendly. Each department came in and introduced themselves. I like that because I like to know who I'm going to be dealing with from the start. I got all the information I need about my son. Each doctor and nurse that came in asked about him, what he likes, how he shows if he is hurting, and made sure I knew the diagnosis. I liked that too, it went smooth. I like it that each nurse and tech that comes in introduce themselves and told me why they were coming in and asked if I needed anything. They were friendly and always talked to me. He also had rehab therapy. Speech therapy stood out the most, because she would demonstrate how to do oral care on his mouth and taught me to watch his tongue to make sure he was moving food around. She interacted with my son and was able to get more reaction and response from him. He has now started eating again and that was a big step in the right direction. The other therapist were very gentle with him and gave me information on how to continue working at home. That made me feel like they care about what they are doing. The respiratory therapist were good about talking to him when they would do his procedures. They also helped with oral care. They made him feel at ease. They include you in on everything that's going on. When it's time for drawing blood they gave me the results. If he need medications based on the results they told me what they were giving him and why. I would ask if I could watch them give him his tube feed medications and they would demonstrate it to me so I could learn how to do it at home. They explained about the wound vac and how to put the bandage on. All that education and demonstrations made me feel easy and confident about doing these things at home. The nurses are very kind, especially Jolvin and the tech Tamika. They would come in and straighten him up in the bed, making extra trips to check on him and making sure he was clean. There others who were very kind and attentive to his care, but I can't remember them all.
