Review content:
CA pizza generally sucks, especially in comparison to NYC/Chicago. Zelo, however, is some of the best pizza I've ever had, and definitely the best I've had in CA. After reading a review, I ordered one with great skepticism. My wife and I were shocked at the quality of the pizza. Closer to a Chicago-style deep dish. Don't be put off by the cornbread crust, it is awesome. Toppings were excellent (sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and huge chinks of garlic). Just wish I didn't live 2 hours away (although it is probably better for my health).
Inside is not much to look at, some cool rock memorabilia (even something from the Brian Jonestown Massacre). A few tables, but not a big dining area. Neighborhood is nondescript. If I'd driven by this place I never would have guessed it would be the source of such great pizza.
Pros: great crust, great toppings , cool memorablilia
Cons: 2 hours from home, fairly small space
