This is the first time I've tried 'dry cleaning' on my carpeting. This is also the first time my new carpets have been cleaned. I can't say enough about the technician--VERY NICE GUY; friendly, etc. But I must say I'm disappointed with the process. The whole reason for having the carpets cleaned was to remove the soiled areas in the heavy-traffic areas, ie, coming from the tiled floor of the bathroom into the hall, the hall itself and in front of my chair in the great room. And I read all the glowing reviews about how ""he removed all my stains; dogs. kids, paint"" etc, so I was expecting the 'soiled' areas (not true 'stains') would come sparkling clean. However, the tech told me DURING the procedure that 'these areas won't come clean because the dirt/oil etc has worked into the fibers and has stained it'. Well, duh! That's what STAIN REMOVAL (as advertised) is all about--and he was right--this dry cleaning method DID NOT REMOVE THE STAINS. Moreover, they're not even any lighter than before. The tech was quick to point out ""but they're completely santized!"". Welllll, ok, but they still LOOK DIRTY. This carpet is just over a year old; it's a very expensive, anti-stain treated carpet; they really should have come clean given that the darkened areas were, again, not truly stains--as in spilled food, dog tracks, mud etc. All in all? If your carpets don't show stains & you just want to sanitize them this MIGHT be the service for you. But if you want CLEAN LOOKING carpets I suggest the old steam method. The carpeting I had before this was steam-cleaned for 20+ years and still looked pretty darn good when we changed it.
Pros: sanitizes (I guess); not wet. decent price, on time
Cons: doesn't remove stains, leaves a light dust that kicks up afterwards
