The 27 year old furnace in my 2 bedroom condo was acting up, so I had a company come out to service it. It turns out I had a cracked heat exchanger and needed a replacement. The service guy was able to give me a quote on the spot, but I wanted to shop around before committing to anything. I found 4 Bar Mechanical on Angie's List with an 'A' rating, so I gave them a call. They were able to connect me right away with a person to give me a ballpark estimate. This was Bob Bakken, one of the managers over there. The price was a couple hundred less than my other quote. They were having a special going on for condo associations, so I felt a bit lucky. Of course, I figured the price would go up when they were on-site for an official quote. Still, I set up a time for Bob to come out and give me a final quote. Well, I just got back from that meeting, and was pleasantly surprised that the final written quote is a bit less than the phone estimate! Its nice to see some integrity with an honest quote over the phone, and no bait and switch once the company is on site.\r \r I also found 4 Bar listed with the local business bureau web site with an A- rating. They've been around for just a few years, and it seems that was holding them back from a solid 'A'. Not a single negative report. Combined with the good review on Angie's list, I'm feeling pretty good so far.\r \r Of course, the proof is in the pudding. They've scheduled the install for the day after tomorrow, and I'll report back here how that goes.\r \r --\r A followup: 4 Bar was out on Thursday as planned, and everything went great, with the furnace fully replaced and the area cleaned up by 2PM. They also programmed the new thermostat, so the place is warmer in the morning and evening hours, but cooler when we're sleeping or not at home during the day.\r \r All in all, its never nice to have to replace a furnace, but this was a great decision going with these guys. Great work at a very good price. Pros: Quick quote over the phone, they stuck to the quote. Excellent work, good price.
