i've been to allen & son a few times and i believe it is the best in durham, but it is NOT the best anywhere. there are a half dozen restaurant in lexington, nc that beat this hands down. the 1st time i ate here was the best and has yet to get better. the 2nd time i had dinner here, the meat was oversauced to cover-up the dryness. this tells me that the meat was not fresh and could have been left over from the previous day. but i can't fault them for not wanting to throw away good meat. i do the same with the bbq i cook at home, so i know what left over bbq tastes like as compared to fresh. i will continue to eat here from time to time, but you must realize that there is better 'q out there. now go find it!!
