This store is too cool with even a cooler website wwwajantaenterprisescom. The owner opened this and two other stores (now closed) since 1970's when the government implemented an import quota ready made garments from India and it became too risky to directly import garments from India, which was Ajanta's Specialty. Ajanta hand there own label and wholesaled to Neiman Marcus, Macy's, Capwell's, Penny's and the like in the 70's and 80's when the indian movement was big. The retail store currently sells indian/asian books, apparel, accessories and handicrafts purchased from many local wholesalers, distributors and publishers and directly from India. Ajanta has amounted quite the collection of Uniques Jewelry and gift items, books, apparel and accessories. It's a store we have to buy from and practically a Berkeley Icon. Great Place to Get and Present Really Unique and Cool Stuff. The website has a different flare and has several items for belly dancing as well as a bunch of stuff not in the store. The prices are great and delivery is fast. The variety is huge.

Cons: meter parking in the front and two hour limit parking on residential side streets
