Review content:
I'm happy to report that The Cookie Jar has recently undergone a facelift so that the store is now as attractive as their desserts. The children's play area is now in a separate little room which reduces the noise considerably, and they have added a lot more room to display desserts. It feels like you're in London or New York, with a big window in front and a nice, bright space. Thankfully, there is not a touch of pink anywhere. There is a whole section of homemade pies which are as beautiful as the cupcakes, ranging from traditional southern pies like green tomato and pecan to more unusual creations such as a gorgeous chocolate hazelnut tart. What I love about this bakery is that everything tastes as good as it looks, which is something I cannot say for many spots in town, and they seem to have great quality control. Everything tastes fresh and moist, and the ingredients taste first rate. I have eaten at the Bistro next door twice, and the soups and pizzas are amazing. Best of all, they'll bring any dessert you select to your table. I am so happy we have a spot like this in Houston. Pros: Pies, Cupcakes, Brownies, Cookies
