Review content:
Since moving to the Platt Park neighborhood, I switched veterinarians so I would have a place closer to my house. I tried Pets on Broadway - the first doc I had was sweet to my dog, took time with me and made our experience enjoyable. Recently, however - my dog had some health concerns, so I took him back. As I waited, and waited and waited for someone to come examine my dog (25 minutes in a little room can seem like forever with an anxious pet!) - I finally had to ask the receptionist if she thought it would be much longer - the doc promptly appeared. He wanted to run some tests on my dog - so they kept him overnight on IV. Next morning, the head vet called and left a message on my voice mail, telling me that my dog has a chronic illness and will need shots for the rest of his life. Just like that - a flat, emotionless message on voice mail. Unacceptable. Bad news should NEVER be left on voice mail! To add insult to injury - I was quoted $500 for the visit and the procedure and was presented with a bill for nearly double that. One would think they would call me when the price looked like it was doubling so I could get a second opinion.
Pros: convenient location, boarding and food available
Cons: a different doctor every time - most with NO bedside manner and no feelings. Maybe that's why they are animal docs and not people docs.
