Review content:
As of October 1, 2008, here is the breakdown of the hidden fees:
Administrative fees = $175 (87.50 per person)
Port fees = $200
Departing fees $54 ($27 per person)
Total cost per couple to take this "free cruise" = $429.
If you look up cruises on Expedia, you will find Carnival and Princess cruises in the Caribbean for the same amount of days for less money.
Like others, we were never given a complete breakdown of these fees all at once, so we did not know how much we were obliged to pay in the long run by taking this "free" cruise.
In the initial phone call, my husband was told we only needed to pay the administrative fee for one of us in order to claim the package. After mailing them $87.50, we got a letter the following month saying the other $87.50 was due or our package was going to be cancelled. I promptly called Security Travel and inquired about any hidden fees and was told there was an additional port fee of $200 we had to pay on top of that. Later, when my irate husband harrowed the Security Representative about hidden fees we learned about the departure fees. Then we calculated the total amount we would have to pay out of our pocket and saw that it was $429. And it will probably cost us $150 in gas round-trip to drive or get to Fort Lauderdale.
We are so angry, we are more willing to pay Carinval $325 for a 4-day 3-night cruise and swallow the $175 we paid this rip-off company.
Do not send them any money. We are going to try and fight for our $175 (non-refundable) adminstrative fee back.
Pros: none
Cons: This is not a free cruise
