Excellent Food and Atmosphere! 2/28/2012

This is an excellent find! We have dined there a number of times over the past few years and every time LOVE IT! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The lady that greets you is amazing. She is so appreciative of your business. Any of the Bento Boxes are a great value and wonderful meal! My favorite is the Original Bento. You must also try the Fried Tofu! If you are looking for good food and a nice atmosphere - go to Yamasaki's. more

wonderful late night experience 1/23/2009

We were looking for a good restaurant on leaving Sundance festival before catching flight and found this wondrous charming Japanese restaurant on my son's Iphone. We were not disappointed. Very personal yet professional service. Chef came out to speak to us and they take pride in their place. We had the seared tuna and seared scallop. Delicious. Highly recommend. it. Pros: service food atmosphere more

So-So 9/6/2008

The sushi was pretty good and priced pretty decent. Service was above par. Not a really cozy place.. needs a better paint color. (White walls? Come on..) It was a little gross in the corner we were sitting in.. there was spilled food/drink/etc. that looked as if it had been there a while. I think if they were to work on the atmosphere this could be a much better place. Pros: Food, price Cons: Needs to be cleaned, not very cozy.. more

Best Food for the Best Price 11/21/2007

Every Japanese restaurant i have eaten at in the valley has either been over-priced or had low quality food. I have finally found a place that is delicious and doesn't hurt my wallet. The service was great and the chef came out and talked to us and asked us about the food. Make sure to make reservations since there are few tables. Everything tasted great at my table and everyone's food around us looked amazing as well. I will definitely be returning soon. Pros: Food, Service, Ambience, Value Cons: small parking lot more

best in the valley 5/31/2007

After eating at Yamasakis several times now, I can truly say they have one of the most diverse and outstanding menus of any salt lake eatery. Its perfect for family, friends or a romantic date. They make fresh soup from scratch everyday and always have special sushi, fish and meat dishes so even regulars like me are never bored. Service is outstanding and the portions are huge. I especially love the bento boxes they have which allow you to sample a variety of the excellent dishes they have to offer. My vegetarian friend is in love with their wild mushroom ravioli with miso sauce. This restaurant is a true original and I urge everybody to give it a try. You won't regret it Pros: Great food, great service Cons: parking fills up fast, at lunch especially more

Best overall menu 5/11/2007

This restaurant is a winner at every level. The food is definitely Asian but blended with Western touches. I've eaten there several times and find every dish to my liking. The seared Ahi Tuna and Soba Salad is a must have. Unique and light it is perfect for the summer months. The service is welcoming and efficient. Its a great value with abundant portions. I've eaten at Asian restaurants of every kind all over the country and this place is one to remember. Pros: Food, Service, Parking more

All around Amazing! 3/3/2007

The food is outstanding! I don't really know what else to say, but I went to dinner there with a party of about seven and not one person was disappointed, infact, everyone was raving about the food. It was a wonderful experience and I'd recommend it to anyone for any occasion, but i wouldn't recommend flip-flops. It's nicer than that. Pros: Food, friendly staff, wonderful chef, comfortable, and relaxing more

Not bad 10/24/2005

The food is good, so is the setting. If you plan on dressing casual be prepaired to be looked down on. I am a very casual person, and one night we decided to go to Yamasaki, upon arrival we noticed alot of empty tables when we entered we were asked if we had reservations, we did not have one and they looked at me and said that they would see if they had a table. I really think they did not want me there, maybe they saw my Porsche in the lot and decided that, that made me good enough to eat at their restaurant?? The one thing that did impress me was the Chef, he made an effort to come to our table and check on the food, which is more than the waitress did. Overall not a bad place, their just a little judgemental. Pros: Food, Very nice Chef more

Best Restaurant Outside of New York 9/9/2005

While visiting from New York, I had the pleasure of eating at Yamasaki's. The service was excellent. I was treated as if I was the president. I've eaten at many Japanese Fusion restaurants in NY and found Yamasaki to be equal or better to my favorite NY haunts. I was especially impressed with the fresh ingredients and unique fusion flavors. The Rack of Lamb was the best I have ever had!!! I would highly recommend this restaurant, Yamasaki's is a PERFECT 10!! Pros: friendly service, clean restaurant, exquisite food more

Exceeded our expectations 9/5/2005

My wife and I are not very familiar with Japanese cuisine but are so glad that we gave this restaurant a try. The atmosphere is awesome. It's a very personal and romantice place. The service was unbeatable. We truly couldn't have asked for a more wonderful dinner. My wife claimed that the Teriyaki Beef Tenderloins was the best beef she had ever tasted. Highly Reccomend for those looking for a truly unique experience. more

Splendid Family Restauraunt 4/21/2005

They really care and take pride in what they provide (rather like Lugano). Great value. Super three course lunch takeouts for $7 or less. more

New and different 5/24/2004

Reasonably priced, I was pleasantly suprised by the atmosphere and tasty appetizers. Like the title says, Yamasaki is definitely ""new and different""... a beautiful fresco painting greets you as you enter the front door, but the food is a cross between fusion and straight Japanese cuisine. Interesting mix. Lunchtime tends to be somewhat hectic, so I would recommend getting there early. Finally, the only drawback is that sometimes the table next to me seems to be just listening to my conversations. It's a modestly sized restaurant, so I guess I'd rather be a little crowded than not being able to sit down. Pros: Different, Appetizers, Reasonably priced Cons: , Privacy more
