Fabulous Independent Bookstore & Purveyor of All Things Travel 6/29/2006

I love this store. It's a one-stop spot for getting any travel book you need. Their selection extends far beyond guidebooks, offering travel literature, essays...if they don't have what you want, they'll order it. If you're not sure which guide is right for you, the store staff really know their stuff and can help you decide. In addition, they are all well-traveled and can guide you toward other resources if you ask. more

The world at your fingertips 12/15/2005

This store is where you should look first when planning a major trip. Everything from disposable underwear (really useful-trust me) to atlases is available here. This store sponsors talks on travels throughout the world and offers a discount program for frequent buyers. Customer service here can be lacking at times but for the most part employees are unobtrusive. Prices here sometimes seem a little high though they do have good sales throughout the year. more

This travel store is one of the best I have seen in the country. They have a great selection and an engaged helpful staff. One third of the store is devoted to travel accessories, travel purses, and luggage/backpacks. I have been looking for a travel purse for a long time and store has the best selection I have seen yet. The rest of the store is made up of books and maps. Wide World carries all the usual travel series as well as a few I haven't seen elsewhere. They also have a wide selection of travel journals and they even sell Christmas ornaments with an international flair. This store has great sales throughout the year and is always my first stop when I need to buy something for a trip. more

excellent resource for travel books, equipment and opinions 7/4/2005

located in wallingford, Wide World Books and Maps is an excellent store for travel guides and related fiction/non-fiction, clever gadgets, basic travel supplies (like electricity converters and mini clothes-lines), maps and packs. additionally, all of the staff are well traveled and eager to offer ideas and recommendations. whether you are hoofing it with a rucksack to the cheapest hostel or partaking in an all inclusive tour they have wonderful references for you to choose from. this is also a great place to find gifts for traveling friends or people who appreciate wares with an international flavor. more
