Great Family Gym 1/8/2011

I have been a member at Westside for 3 years. I rate this gym with 5 stars for a number of reasons. The management and staff are friendly and responsive. After the May flood, the management made immediate arrangements for the WAC members to work out at another local facility. They worked almost around the clock to repair WAC all the while offering classes in the undamaged part of the club. There's a nice variety of classes and workout equipment. Since the club is smaller, you never have to fight for equipment or a spot in a class. My children have participated in the gymnastics program for 6 years and I wouldn't take them anywhere else. The coaches are wonderful with children and amazingly talented. They are just the type of influence you want in your child's life. I highly recommend this place! more

Even with change I left! 12/19/2008

I recently left Westside. I was a member for a few months. It was dark and not windows except when you enter! I felt like I was in a dungeon. Some of the members were nice, others were not. I hired a trainer and they were incompetent. I went to Boost and love it. I would do the same. Pros: Its being bought Cons: Everything more

promises, promises 9/15/2008

Yeah, the place is under new management, but the renovations are slow and ongoing. The men's locker room smells BAD and hasn't been updated in at least 20 years. The equipment is nice and new-ish, and the staff is friendly enough. But no one's at the cafe in the evenings, though, so you can't get a post-workout shake or snack.\r \r The sales rep tried to entice me into signing up by dropping the enrollment fee and lowering the monthly dues. When I told him I'd wait for the renovation, he seems irritated and cut me off. Wait for the next round of management. Maybe they can fix this place.\r Pros: nice equipment, nice workout spaces Cons: old, smells bad, in need of serious renovation more

Contract from HELL 5/23/2007

I joined the club as it was recommended to me by a friend. They have two locations and I chose to work out at the Green Hills club since it was close to my house. The gym was very hot and dark. The Club owners decided to close this gym, so I was forced to drive 15 minutes out of the way to go to the Club at Westside. I could not get out of my contract, as they were able to provide me with another gym within 20 miles!!!!! This gym wasn't terrible except for the overt displays of old men in various forms of undress in the locker room on a regular basis. I once saw an old man drying his privates with a hair dryer with no regard for anyone else. This is beside the point. The real reason why this gym is an awfule place is because of the contract. You can either choose no contract, 1 year, 2 year, or 3 year. The prices drop in accordance with how long the contract term is. Contracts are a normal part of gym memberships, so this is not the big deal. The big deal is when you want to end your membership, you must jump through a few hoops. You must first buy out of the remaining term of your membership. You must then give them a letter stating that you want your contract cancelled, but it would be way to easy to drop it off in person, so they make you send a certified letter. If you fail to or they misplace it, they continue to draft out of your account. If you account has changed, they charge you fees. I have no problem paying what is owed, but having to spend valuable time trying to cancel a membership is not for me. Since this terrible incident, I have joined the YMCA, which is cheaper and has many more locations around Nashville. The facilities are better maintained and the machines are better. The best part is, there is no contract!! Pros: Empty Cons: Contract, Remote Locations, locker room etiquette more

W*O*W* this place has changed management!!! 4/21/2007

This place is showing alot of changes for the better!!!! The locker rooms and showers are a huge improvement from what they use to be. (no more mold in the showers, floors clean and both sauna and steam room are CLEAN) I have noticed this change just in the past month and can't wait to see what other new changes are going to come.\r \r Some draw backs to going, a couple of the housekeeping employees (a.m. shift) need to take better care of themselves. ie...Take a shower and brush their teeth clean uniforms should be mandatory. what a bad image they project for a place that has had such a huge makeover in the past 2 months. Pros: Change in Management Cons: House keeping employee (a.m. shift) needs to project a better image. more
