I Lost 50 Pounds with their help 2/22/2006

As a former couch-potato, let me tell you that anyplace that can motivate ME to work out is worth its weight in gold! I began using the Westminster Rec Center's facility in 2003 when I joined Weight watchers. The first few visits were pitiful, to say the least, but I finally enlisted the help of one of their personal trainers. She helped me learn to use all of the machines properly and she didn't make me feel like a total klutz while I was doing so. The workout room is clean and bright and recently enlarged. I like that they have sign-up sheets for the busier machines so everyone gets a turn and they have 6 or 7 treadmills--a good thing since everyone likes to use those. My favorite machine was their elliptical and I used it faithfully. Tons of free weights, too, gave me a variety. Their locker rooms and showers are quite clean and roomy. Their pool is large, but could use few more lap lanes. Surprising enough, The Westminster Rec Center is also a great place to host a wedding. With a large room on second floor (away form the kids in their bathing suits) you can bring in your own caterer, and entertain your guests on the patio overlooking the lights of Westminster and Broomfield. more

Great Place to Workout! 2/1/2006

The City of Westminster offers great classes for people of all ages and abilities! Their recreation centers have nice pools, great aerobics classes, and wonderful art classes. For residents, the prices are very reasonable. I do wish they included more aerobics classes in their daily admission prices, but I am very happy with their classes in general. I suppose they are worth the extra money! more

City Rec Center 6/29/2005

This rec center has all the basics; a weight room, exercise machines, pool, hot tub, wet and dry sauna, basketball court, and racket courts, as well as a couple of classrooms and waiting area. However, they are smaller than most rec. centers, but still keep a higher price. The pool area is also shaped strange and makes it hard to swim laps or have the desired room. more
