Wealthy Street Bakery Inc

This used to be my favorite for lunch. I lived a couple streets over and spent many lunches and dinners there. The last year or two, however, the quality has really gone down. Cost cutting perhaps? The ingredients seem old or stale, the sandwiches thinner, and the lattes weak. Believe me, I take no pleasure in losing a great place to eat but I won't be going back. Perhaps still better than mass produced bread but with competition like Nantucket Bakery, why settle? more

the bakery is amazing, i cant say enough about how great it is, located just outside downtown, great for trolly days and hertiage hill tour. the breads are fantastic, pastries are excellent, worth every penny. when ever there is bad service those people tend to "move on" it seams like. So the owners are doing a great job more

Perhaps I am biased because we live so close, but we LOVE having this bakery in the neighborhood! In the summers we can walk over there (although we drive in the winter...we're wimps) and it is very handy to have a place for many varieties of fresh-baked bread without having to drive all the way to Meijer or D&W. The bakery is very cozy, with a nice quiet atmosphere if you just want to sit and read the newspaper or a book. Staff has always been friendly and helpful and there is adequate parking. This bakery is really doing its part to revitalize the neighborhood and we are thankful to have them here. The only drawback we have with them is that sometimes we will get home from work at 5:30 and decide we want a nice baguette or french bread loaf with dinner. So we go over to the Bakery and they are already out of everything except the more exotic things like the tomato foccacia, etc. So that is disappointing. They would do better to make a few more of the more popular items in the morning, so that they don't have to turn away potential customers like myself! more

This bakery/restaurant is a cut above the rest. The Wealthy Street Bakery is a small local eatery that runs big on taste and quality. The baked goods are fresh out of the oven and the oversized portioned sandwiches are served on their fresh baked breads. Because of their generous portions, 2 can easily dine on a meal meant for one. The desserts, I feel, are better savored at home, on the couch, watching a sunset...Okay, maybe a bit much but the desserts are simply to die for! You won't be disappointed. more

Fantastic bakery items in a convenient location near downtown! A lunch menu is also available - including delicious soups, salads and huge sandwiches (a half sandwich is plenty for lunch!). Homemade pizza is sold after 4:00 - try the Barbeque Chicken or the Portobello Mushroom pizzas - they are fantastic! Call ahead to place your order for the pizza - it's great for carryout. more
