I really like Washington Mutual. They are one of the more customer friendly banks to have. You can get a free checking account and don't have to maintain a minimum balance. For the savings account, there is a minimum, but I got it waived if I agreed to an automatic transfer (minimum $25) from my savings account to my checking account every month. Ths wasn't a problem since I never saw anything preventing me from just transferring the money back. Washington Mutual has a lot of branches around the ctiy which makes it very convenient for me if I need to deposit money.
