WAY cheaper than Bookholders and Barnes&Noble/VCU bookstore. I had to order a book new through them for a class and they told me $37, so I went and price checked at Bookholders and B&N and they both had to order the book and it was going to cost me $47 plus Bookholders had a longer shipping time. I've been using VBC for at least 4 years and they consistently provide great customer service with me, take the time to answer my questions and have the best prices on books and clothes around. B&N doesn't sell $10 VCU t-shirts in basically any color imaginable. VBC does. more

I am a freshman at VCU. Let me just say everything at Virginia Book co is over priced. For textbooks go to book holders. For clothing go to Barnes and noble. The employees at Virginia Book co give you subtle attitude like they don't care. I have been there multiple times and have felt that way every time I go especially from the managers in the back of the store where they hand out books. I ordered a final four shirt online two weeks ago and I just picked it up 3 days ago. Online there is no sign that says final four shirts are final sale. First of all I ordered a medium and it was like an extra large on me and I just wanted to return it. When I went to the store to return it. one of the managers rudely commented saying that the shirts are final sale. he had a ""you shouldve known that"" type tone which really annoyed me. I didnt even bother arguing. I just left. this place doesnt have good return/buy back policies and you should be careful before buying anything from here. honeslty barnes and noble and bookholders are the best places to buy stuff at the vcu monroe campus. Stuff goes on sale and they are more open about taking merchandise back. and their employees are nicer and more welcoming more

As of January 2010, Virginia book company charges a 20% restocking fee on every return excluding materials for dropped classes. Typical transaction fees that retailers pay for credit card purchases do not exceed 5%. Additionally, the return period ends at 9 PM on the final add/ drop date of each semester, allowing limited time to return books. Don't go to the official VCU Bookstore. They overcharge, they're slow, it's hard to find what you're looking for and their employees don't care. On the other hand, Mike at the Virginia Book Company is amazing. He and the other staff are very eager to help you and they are fastt. They have a great selection of used books and even their new books are cheaper than you'll find elsewhere. Plus they offer more money at buyback than the VCU Bookstore. I purchased a book the first day of the semester when they had reopened and asked the clerk when was the last day I could return the book. They said, ""By the end of the month."" I went in to return the book on 1/30 and was told that the last day to return books was 1/24. I explained that there were no signs posted, which one of their employees confirmed, and told them what the clerk said to me. They said that they do not waive their return policy and then offered to buy the new book back from me for 50% value. At which time they could sell it to another person for full price and make 100% profit off of their mistake. I will NEVER shop there again. Cons: Customer Service, Hours, Parking more

They hire and then don't train people. Books were bought and asked about the return policy. Was told the end of the month. When tried to return books they said it had changed and was the 24th not the end of the month. Even admitted that they posted the return policy late.
