Best

Rock Creek Veterinary Hospital has been caring for my dogs & cats for over 11 years. I feel the Doctors and Staff have always been there for all my pets and their needs. Thank you...

Worst

$200 for an unnecessary X-ray? Do these vets work on commission? Do they know how to take a decent history? Have they ever worked on a chihuahua before? Better love your pet a lot...

Big bucks small care 7/3/2012

$200 for an unnecessary X-ray? Do these vets work on commission? Do they know how to take a decent history? Have they ever worked on a chihuahua before? Better love your pet a lot if you take it here because you may need to take out a 2nd mortgage to pay for it. more

rude staff 2/14/2011

I have a regular vet that I take my dog to. Because she has kidney disease she needs a perscription diet. Let me explain.. this is a perscription diet because of the type of protein they put in the food not because it has actual medication. When my normal vet was closed and I had absolutley NO food for my dog I was turned away because I didn't have a perscription on me. I was asking for one can of dog food. As vets they should know how important it is to feed a dog with kidney disease and they still turned me down. I had no other options and my dog was hungry. They acted like I was asking for pain killers because my dog had arthritis or something. They said they would need to have an initial consultation and even then they wouldn't be able to diagnose my dog without extensive tests.. just for one can of food..?!?! They are not compassionate at all and are just plain rude! DO NOT GO HERE!!! more

Great Veterinary Hospital 8/20/2010

I’ve been taking my dogs & cats to Rock Creek Veterinary Hospital for many years. The Doctors and staff have always been great and they really care for my pets. I love that they are open 7 days a week. I know they will always be there when I need them. I highly recommend Rock Creek Veterinary Hospital. more

looking for the bright side 8/17/2010

Our cat was given the incorrect dosing from a flea medication, due to the information that was given by a person from Rock Creek Veterenary hospital. We have taken our cat to Dove Lewis hospital praying that he make a full recovery eventhough he is not doing very well. When speaking with the office manager about this HORIBLE mishap, she was extremely rude and very defensive. We have taken our pets here for at least 9 years and now will never return and will let everyone we know of our experience. Please pray for our cat and how we are going to pay the $1,400 bill. If I had the option below there would not be any stars for Rock Creek Veterinary Hospital! more

Wonderful experiences! 7/22/2010

My family thinks Rock Creek is THE BEST! We have several animals and have been coming to them for many years. We have dealt with almost every doctor on their staff and could not be happier! \r We recommended their hospital to our family and friends over and over, we also believe that you get what you pay for here. more

Rock Creek Clinic visit was Horrifying! 4/16/2010

The staff at Rock Creek is THE WORST I have ever encountered! The only thing good about this clinic is that they are open later than most, however if there is an emergency... Go to an emergency clinic! \r \r We went in with a cat that had been mauled by a pit bull a 1/2 hour prior to closing, we were in the clinic for 20 minutes then referred to the emergency clinic and were asked to pay a 500.00 bill. 500.00? Wow, that is a hefty bill for 20 minutes. \r It is my experience that:\r 1.) if the cost is going to be this sufficient an estimate is given to the client to assure no cost constraints.\r 2.) if closing very soon and it is expected that the client will need to go to an emergency clinic, instead of 2 bills, refer straight to emergency.\r 3.) when the client is obviously traumatized by the patient being attacked, show some compassion! (the girls on duty were very RUDE actually scowling, and had the nerve to question whether the credit card will go through. That would have been ans more

I am not commenting on the vets or their knowledge, due to our lack of vet contact during our visit. However, I, beyond a shadow of a doubt, feel that the office and tech staff are so horrible that one should avoid this clinic. Pros: Late business hours Cons: Horrible staff more

The Best vet clinic in the Portland metro area! 11/25/2009

I have been going to Rock creek for 2 years now, after I had a horrible experience with Banfield Pet hospital. I take my dog and cat here now. Every single vet we have come into contact with here has gone above and beyond their job description. They love and are patient with my dog (even though he tends to ""kiss"" quite a bit and be the typical hyper lab!) and always are up front with costs and give cheaper alternatives to medication since they have an in house pharmacy. Big bonus is that that office staff is knowledgeable and very nice. (For some reason a lot of vet office staff tend to be slightly rude, but not here). I truly would never go anywhere else. My dog has had all his vaccinations here and we will be doing a ACL surgery next month with them as well. There is no other vet I would trust with my dog's surgery! Their boarding services are also awesome and actually pretty cheap (and they take your dog for walks, they don't sit in a cage all day!)\r PLease don't waste your time with other corporate vets like Banfield has. Just switch to Rock Creek....I wish I would have done it a lot sooner! Pros: nice office staff, caring vets, decent prices Cons: Nothing at all, seriously I cannot think of one. more

Rock Creek outstanding! 4/11/2009

I have taken my dog and 2 cats to Rock Creek Veterinary Hospital for many years. While most of our visits were routine, 4 of those visits were serious emergencies. Dr. David Barno is a sensitive, patient, down-to-earth veterinary doctor + surgeon with uncommonly accurate diagnostic skills. He never overcharges nor does he recommend expensive laboratory tests unless they are critical to the well-being of the animal. And even then, he does everything he can to keep the price down. He consistently shows heartfelt compassion to both the animal + the pet owner and hones in on the pet's medical problem with accuracy. I give Dr. Barno and Rock Creek an A+ more

Rock Creek Veterinary Hospital was awful 3/31/2009

Our doctor at Rock Creek Vet Hospital was awful and spoke down to me (a female) when speaking to us about our dog. We do not have a medical background, we do not know medical lingo, so just relax and explain it, more than once if need be. Our dog was very, very sick with a mystery illness and the vet did not know what was wrong, so his solution was to just keep running tests and us to keep paying for them. The tests did not make any sense, either. I do not think that particular doctor is there anymore. Until we find a good vet, we will continue to use, and LOVE Emergency Veterinary Clinic of Tualatin (http://www.nwdogrescue.com/maps/tualatin.html). The charges are the same as daytime vets -- and trust me, we have run the gamut this year: full on hospital stays, IVs, you name it, we paid for it. In any event, I would not recommend Rock Creek Vet Hospital in Hillsboro, Oregon on 185 Ave Ave near Walker. more

Love them! 11/9/2008

Rock Creek has been amazing to us. We were nervous about finding a vet for our dog after a cross country move, but they made the transition easy. It is easy to get an appointment, and all the vets seem very knowledgeable. Our dog has some ongoing stomach problems, and they have given us several options with the utmost respect. Also, their grooming services are great! Try them out. more

Highly Recommended 11/19/2007

I was a very happy customer of Rock Creek Vet for over 5 years. We recently moved out of state and I have been in search of a vet that offers the same level of service and care. I am having a challenge doing that. At this point I am considering making a road trip back to Oregon for the dogs health care. more

Great Place 3/27/2006

I've been going to Rock Creek Vet for several years and they have always been wonderful. They truly care for the pets and provide many options on how to treat them. The prices may be a little higher than some vets but I definitely believe it is worth it. I know my vet by her first name and can call her and she'll answer questions for me over the phone. I wouldn't go anywhere else. more

Late hours saved us!! 12/30/2005

Our poor baby zebra finch came down with a horrible chest cold and we luckily found this veterinary hospital open at 11PM. They saw him right away and were very helpful and sincere. Later in the week the bird had to be put to sleep and they handled it all with great care and lots of sympathy. Highly recommended!! more

Great Service 11/28/2005

I switched over to Rock Creek Veterinary Hospital on recommendationof a close friend of mine after having received bad service at other area veterinary hospitals. My dog, Chou Chou, a minature American Eskimo, is a relatively uncommon breed and required particular care as she has epilepsy. Dr. Pemberton was absolutely wonderful with her, even though she is not generally a people-person kind of dog, and was especially understanding about the care she required. Unlike other vets, he was very sensitive about her condition and proposed several different treatments for us to choose from rather than forcing a single one on us like other animal hospitals in the area did. The price was fair for the care she got and the convenience of Radiology and test equipment being available on premises is duly appreciated. I highly recommend this vet hospital. more

Excellent service! 8/2/2005

When my chinchilla jumped off the top shelf in his cage and caught his foot and broke it at 6:00am, Rock Creek was the only vet office open that early that could get him in right away. They were very knowledgable and friendly. They explained my options to me and completed his amputation wonderfully. He is living a healthy active life and I am so glad we took him to Rock Creek Vet Hospital. They work with a large variety of animals, not just dogs and cats. PROS: Knowledgable, convenient, friendly CONS: Little pricey, but worth it! more

Pet and People friendly 6/23/2005

After having a scare with our dog, a beautiful golden retriever, we will only take him to Rock Creek Vet. They were friendly and thorough without being pushy. more
