I am very disappointed with the treatment my dog received here at VCA Old Trail. In June, I had to take my dog, Remy, to the ER vet clinic due to him being bloated. I then had to find a vet to take him to for a follow-up visit. I am new to the area, so I decided on VCA because of the location. The first visit was ok, because it was only a follow-up. At the ER, it was discovered that Remy had a possible heart condition, so he was prescribed meds, so Dr. Lukacs kept Remy on a few of the meds, and he recommended an echocardiogram, which they did not do there, so I needed to go elsewhere for that. The visit at VCA was very expensive (even with a coupon for the first visit and price matching the meds with Walmart prices) and only x-rays were done and medicines were given. A few weeks later, Remy was sick (coughing up mucous, vomiting, and not eating). We could not get a quick appointment at VCA, so we were back at the emergency vet. I took Remy back to VCA for a follow-up and check-up (because he wasn’t getting better) a couple of days later. Dr. Lukacs briefly looked at Remy (maybe spent a total of 5 minutes), and he only focused on the possible heart condition that Remy might have had. He even said that if we had gotten the echocardiogram done, we wouldn’t have been there with this problem (note: I couldn’t get an appointment for the echocardiogram until at least late July). I knew that Remy’s illness wasn’t related to his slightly enlarged heart and that something more was going on, but again, we were given meds and sent home. It all happened so fast, I could barely get any questions answered. Remy had gotten slightly better, but last week, he was vomiting again and he looked really sick. I made an appointment at another animal clinic, because I wanted answers as to why this was happening. This vet there suggested blood work (which was never suggested at VCA), and discovered Remy was dehydrated, had renal failure, and pancreatitis. Unfortunately, his condition was severe, so he passed away that evening.
It is my opinion that VCA Old Trail is more concerned with getting your money than they are with taking care of your pets. I only wish I didn’t put my trust in them and just went to another place sooner. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
