Best

I have used this animal hospital for over 8 years. We have 2 English bulldogs and we are visiting the vet, a lot, due to bulldogs having a lot of health issues. We have used Dr....

Worst

More concenrned about money and poor customer service. Their vet fees are exorbitant. Vets and staff that were more caring towards clients no longer work there.

I am really thankful for Dr. Emch and Dr. Porter. My dog was very sick and they gave him great treatment getting him better. I am so thankful for them after having horrible service at a different vet. I think my dog would have died without them. more

We were really grateful for Dr. Bagley and the Cottonwood Animal Hospital for taking such great care of my baby French Bulldog Sophie. Sophie broke her elbow when she was 5 months old and it was very traumatic. We were referred to Cottonwood Animal Hospital for the surgery and I was so scared and comprehensive about it, but meeting with Dr. Bagley took all my fears away. He explained the proceed in detail and spent quite a bit of time with me going over all the details. He let me carry Sophie back to her cage and showed me where she would be having the surgery. He called me personally after the surgery and let me know everything went fine. The staff was so friendly and took such great care of Sophie, they remembered her by name two weeks later at her checkup. Even at the checkup Dr. Bagley took the time to explain everything to us about her healing process. They were upfront with the pricing on the surgery and was more reasonable that other clinics, and the follow up visits are included. They were really honest and friendly to work with. It was a great experience and I would recommend Dr. Bagley and Cottonwood Animal Hospital to everyone. Thanks so much for the great experience. more

I have used this animal hospital for over 8 years. We have 2 English bulldogs and we are visiting the vet, a lot, due to bulldogs having a lot of health issues. We have used Dr. Bagley the entire time. I couldn't be happier with the service and care he gives our dogs. Our dogs have had numerous surgeries and checkups and every time Dr. Bagley and his staff have done a wonderful job. As far as cost, they are a pinch higher than the average animal hospital but it is worth every penny knowing my dogs are well taken care of. more

We are extremely grateful to have discovered Cottonwood Animal Hospital. The quality of care, expertise and unwavering compassion far surpasses all previous vet experiences. Dr. Bagley and Dr. Porter both are outstanding and are guided by a higher level of devotion to quality of care. Our dogs have each had complicated surgeries from both doctors and we were very impressed by the outcomes. \r \r When our 14-year old dog Delia was in her final hours of life and had reached a point beyond our ability to care for her, Dr Bagley re-opened the clinic for us on midnight of Christmas Eve to help ease her suffering. Any pet owner would understand the magnitude of this caring act. She had almost died 2 months prior and Dr. Bagley gave us his cell phone number and offered to come to our house at any time knowing that the end would inevitably be soon. \r \r Dr. Bagley is a rare breed and his extraordinary kindness during our trying time will never be forgotten. We would also like to acknowledge the support from the Cottonwood staff during Delia’s passing. Such a dreadful time was eased by such a comforting demeanor from the midnight vet technicians. \r \r Through word-of-mouth we found Cottonwood and we would like to pay that forward. \r more

Dr. Law and Nanette have been wonderful. The idea that when your pet has to stay overnight there is someone there all the time is more than comforting. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 6/25/2012

Dr Bagley and Dr. Law have been fantastic! I have a large Black Lab that has needed several surgeries. Both hind legs have been repaired, ACL and Achilles repair. Both procedures were extensive because of the size of my dog and the serious nature of the damage. In both cases I could not have been more satisfied. Both surgeries, and many other illness/minor issues, have been taken care of without a problem. The cost was about what I would have expected. I will not go anywhere else. These people have taken such great care of us we have become good friends. My ""best friend"" and I are still running the trails and chasing pheasants. Thanks Cottonwood. more

I have owned dogs all my life and been 6/3/2012

I have owned dogs all my life and been to many vets, Cottonwood Animal Hospital is the Best I have ever experienced. My five year old lab was having some problems running and I took him to a local vet he examined him and said he had bad hips gave me a prescription and I went home, weeks passed no improvement, I did some research and made an appointment with Dr. Rob Bagley, after his initial exam which took only a few minutes he diagnosed a torn ACL in his left knee X-rays verified it and TPLO surgery followed the following week. Dr.Bagley and the staff were very professional it was overall a great outcome. Dr Bagley is just a great guy very caring and knowledgeable, for me and my family Cottonwood is # !. more

AMAZING 1/10/2012

I cannot say enough! Dr. Bagley is AMAZING!! Our dog struggled to take a 5 minute walk. Dr. Bagley diagnosed our dog with a torn ACL (CCL) and performed a TPLO surgery. The surgery – recovery – all of it went extremely well! I would have never thought within 5 months we would be swimming and hiking! No words could express the depth of my gratitude, but THANK YOU ROB!! Also, our dog is claustrophobic, so I was concerned about him being in a kennel after the surgery. I told Dr. Bagley, and he assured me that he would stay in one of the large kennels. We went to visit our dog that night and he was in one of the large kennels with plenty of space. This is the only vet who had not dismissed this concern. Also, while my husband and I were sitting in the kennel with our dog that night, the vet tech shifts were changing. Aside from just the info on each kennel, we heard the going home technician go through each and every animal to update the starting shift technician. All of the staff was extremely helpful and patient through the whole process. 5 stars is not a high enough rating for Dr. Bagley and his team! Thank you all!! more

After 3 years of bad diagnosis, these guys aced it! 10/5/2011

We had been having issues with our Dalmatian Smudge in Phoenix, and for at least 3 years our vet there said that he had allergies and to just give him Benadryl. Smudge's skin was pink, he was losing hair in clumps, and he was getting fat, fat, fat... After moving to Utah, and a change of climate of fixing things(And winter knocking on our door), we went to Cottonwood Animal Hospital, where the Dr listened to our story, looked at Smudge and saids that he wanted to run blood tests to make sure, but that he could almost guarantee that it was going to be a thyroid issue. Within 3 weeks of thyroid medication, Smudge had stopped losing hair, his sin was no longer pink, he wasn't gnawing at his skin, and he had lost about 30 pounds. We've always had great service, not sure why anyone would see it differently, sure, they are more expensive than some of the competition, but the people complaining about this fact don't seem to realize that the clinic is in Cottonwood Heights, which is just a few miles from multi-million dollar homes on multi-acre lots, EVERYTHING costs more there. The service we get, even on a tight income is worth it. One time when we were due for a thyroid test(Needs a test every year to make sure the dosage doesn't need to be adjusted), we didn't have the money, and Smudge's hips were getting pretty sore, I gave him Naproxyn(BAD, BAD thing to do, BTW), and he started vomiting blood. We took him in, and it took 3 days on IV's to detox him. When I explained that we were just trying to carry over until we had the money, the Dr told us that any time we were that tight, they would personally approve one more refill of the 'script without the test, rather than have everyone traumatized, and risk Smudge's health. They also, with no questions asked, and no extra fees, let us pay his ER visit off over about 3 months, I just filled out a series of post-dated checks, and they let me choose the date for the deposit. Never a problem. I get personal calls a few days after a visit for a health issue to see how Smudge s doing from his treatment. I don't understand people like 'ddahl52' who seem to blame their displeasure with C.A.H. on meds they got from ANOTHER vet, either. Funny how the stuff I am finding online says that most of the side effects of this drug are from overdose, I guess that's C.A.H.'s fault, also?\r \r IN summation, yes, they are more expensive, but I have NEVER had a single issue, and we now have to drive completely across the valley to take Smudge there, and it's still worth it. Try blaming the correct vet next time. more

For any of your pet needs- GO SEE DR. BAGLEY!! 7/9/2011

I moved to Utah a couple months ago and needed a vet for my 2 dogs so I went to see Dr. Rob Bagley in July of 2011. He will be my vet for life!!! What I love about him is that he was kind to my pets who were very scared and he did everything he could to help them feel comfortable. He listened carefully to each concern and explained everything to me as he did very thorough exams on both dogs. He helped me understand all medical terminology and options available for my dog's bronchitis. He is friendly, knowledgeable and thoughtful. He takes a genuine interest in your pet and you! I have been to over 20 vets in 5 states over the years with different pets and I can honestly say he is the kind of vet everyone hopes to find!!! AND, as part of my job I had the opportunity to watch him do some surgical procedures and I can tell you, he is VERY good at what he does! One of the best out of hundreds I have worked with. I don't believe that Cottonwood Animal Hospital is expensive, I believe their rates are fair and average for the area. The staff is kind, the facility is clean and they know how to treat your 4 legged family members! Go see for yourself, you will not regret it! more

I receive incredible service at Cottonwood Animal Hospital each time I visit the vet with my pets. I have two large breed dogs, and they can be difficult to handle while at the vet. However, the staff at Cottonwood makes both my animals and myself feel welcome and well cared for. Thanks to all of you for all the care you give! Keep up the great work!! more

VERY BEST PET CARE!! 2/23/2011

If you are serious about your pet's health and the care they receive-I would certainly visit the vets at Cottonwood Animal Hospital. They have given my pets incredible care since 1997. Thanks Cotttonwood Animal Hospital! more

This is by far the BEST animal hospital in the entire state of Utah!!! 1/31/2011

The doctors and staff at COTTONWOOD ANIMAL HOSPITAL clearly take the health and care of your pet as seriously as anyone could hope for. They are completely concerned about my furry family members, and are willing to go the extra mile to provide the best service I've ever experienced. I adopted a 9 year old Weimaraner from the Humane Society last month and had purchased a crate for her to stay in while I was out of the house. She ended up trying to escape from the crate and had cut the top of her snout on the wire door. I visited the animal hospital during their emergency hours. Dr. Alan Woodworth was completely amazing. When they informed me that she would need about 10 stitches and might need to stay over night, I was concerned about them leaving her in a kennel. Dr. Woodworth personally volunteered to call me every hour and let me know that she was okay, and he informed me that they would not crate her. She ended up not needing to stay over night because they were able to treat her w more

If it weren't for Dr. Bagley I wouldn't have my dog. 1/21/2011

In 2009 I took my Doberman to a local vet due to an injury to her rear right knee. He said he knew exactly what was wrong and what to do about it. He was half right. A few hundred dollars and several months later, the dog was still in pain, holding the leg up, and the injury was worse than ever.\r \r I took her to Desert View Vet. in Rock Springs WY where the vet told me pretty much the same thing about her injury BUT said she wasn't able to do that type of surgery and recommended Dr. Bagley at COTTONWOOD ANIMAL HOSPITAL in Salt Lake. Let's face it - I knew before I went that it would be expensive but I was still a bit shocked at the price of the surgery. Dr. Bagley looked my dog over, gave the same diagnosis and gave me several options. The way the original vet had tried to fix the injury was great for small dogs but mine weighs in at around 65 lbs and that was why the surgery hadn't worked. (Duh - why didn't he know that? Cost me money, but worse, cost my dog a LOT of pain). By the time I got to Dr. Bagley the dog had lost most of her muscle mass in the right hip, the leg was up constantly, there was massive infection in the joint and she hurt. He said the surgery which would be putting in a metal plate and other things would run me about $2400. After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I took a walk to think about it,\r \r Zoe is about 6 yrs old. As a 'rescue dog' I'm not positive about her age. Regardless, that makes her only about halfway through an average Dobermans life span. If she'd been 10 or 11 yrs old I'd have probably just had her put down rather than go through the last years of her life in pain. Because of her age and - let's face it - because I love her, I opted to go with the surgery. I also decided to have her stay at the clinic for 5 days afterward so she would have constant care. They gave me a major break on the kennel fees which I deeply appreciated. Within a week of having her home she was using the leg for the first time in months.\r \r That was four months ago. I took her back yesterday for her final checkup and she passed with flying colors. The muscle mass in her hip is coming back to the point you have to look closely to see the difference. \r \r Dr. Bagley not only did some wonderful work on my girl, he saved her life. She couldn't have gone on like that . Thanks to what he did she is painfree and running around like she did before the injury. more

Mixed Review 1/4/2011

My recent experience for emergency back surgery for our dachshund Hershey has been met with mixed reviews. Dr. Bagley is a top notch surgeon and we are so appreciative of his immediate response to come in on his day off to perform the much needed surgery for a herniated disc. Dr. Baglely is an expert in this area and we couldn't have asked for a better doctor to do this type of surgery. I would recommend him to anyone out there living the greater Salt Lake area in need of a specialized vet surgeon for back surgery. With that said,\r \r I want to make sure that any future clients coming to Cottonwood Animal Hospital for this surgery be well informed about what to expect from the post surgery phase and to insist that you take it upon yourself to ask for specifics on the rehabilitation for your pet. You need to do your homework about this type of surgery and prepare your questions on what to do after surgery and what is normal or not, understand the care you will be needing to provide and have their staff thoroughly go over ever detail before being discharged. I liken this to a human having any kind of joint surgery...you wouldn't be sent home without some sort of rehab program setup so please ask them about rehab services in the area such as Utah Pet Rehab in Park City and Alta Dog Rehab in the Sandy area. YOu will need their expertise and advise and their assistance in helping you get your dog back on his feet with the best care and least frustration for you. They are awesome and Dr. Bagley has been working directly with Teena from Alta Dog Rehab and me. It has been a good relationship and furthers our confidence in a full recovery. Having an inhome service has been awesome and easy on our dog and time. We appreciate the time and energy Alta Dog Rehab has spent with us and for the concern and excellent surgeon Dr. Bagley has shown us and our dog.\r \r And I say this because my experience with front-desk staff and technician did not meet with the same professionalism that Dr. Bagley shows and would expect. If you can make sure your doctor can meet you upon the pickup of your pet after this type of surgery to be able to discuss the short- and long-term affects post surgery, to give you personal physical therapy demonstrations for your dog and show you what to watch for in helping your dog rehabiltate will better increase that chances of your pets' healing and recovery time. If the doctor cannot meet with you insist upon a staff member who has a lot of experience with hands on demonstration. If you are not clear on getting the proper exercises or not comfortable with doing them with your animail contact Alta Dog Rehabilitation. They specialize in this area and have been the best part of helping Hershey to begin to walk again around week 3...baby steps but without Tena from Alta Dog Rehab we would not have had nearly the post surgery recovery go this well. We weren't given proper instructions from the staff at Cottonwood so make sure that Cottonwood Animal Hospital provides Atla Dog Rehab brochure (ask for Teena) from the beginning. Get all of the facts and do your homework on what you are about to experience in taking care of your pet. It's worth it for you and your pet to get the best service you deserve. And keep your doctor informed about the PT progress your pet is making. It's just peace of mind and you will have a better outcomes when both the vet and rehab having a close working relationship. more

Emergency Area 12/28/2010

All i can say is they care more about money than the pets they treat. i took my dog in as soon as she showed signs of being sick, it was after hours and my reg. vet was closed but sends people here. The dog was diagnosed with Parvo. They wanted 1100 dollars for the start of treatment, $600 up front there and then. Of course i didnt have it. So $300 dollars later i had fluid and shot to threat her at home. At home i have 3 8 week old puppie, who went to my vet the next day, got shots, which was to late as they were exposed. On chrismas eve, the first dog got a clean bill of health. That night the puppies started showing signs. I call the cottonwood er to see if i could get shot to stop vomiting and antiboitc for them as i already had the fluids...No they said, they had to see them..$78 dollars for an office visit...i asked if i could make payment, as i was out of money..NO they said no money no service...now time is of the most important, and i ask well how much fluid should i give..they wuld not tell me...the day after christmas i was at the vets office as they opened. got the shots and info but he was a pretty sick dog by then. Tonight at 10:47 he died, I truly believe that if he got the treatment he needed he would be alive....they are money grubbers. more

BEST vet place EVER!!! Awesome experience!!! 5/10/2010

I went to cottonwood animal hospital on a emergency trip for my puppy when he was throwing up a lot and not eating one day! They were very nice and greeted me when I walked in and were very concerned about my pup and him being sick! The place was immaculate and seemed like a ""human"" emergency room! The vet was very fast to see us and genuinely cared a lot about our little 14 week old puppy! We ended up finding out our puppy had a very contagious virus called Parvo and needed to be hospitalized until he was better! The VET (Dr. Anderson) called us every night and every morning to give us updates on him so we knew every step of his Maddux's (my puppy) recovery. He made us feel very comforted that Maddux was in good hand and given the best possible care he could get, so he could fight this virus! He stayed in their ICU for 3 days and then was released! I was very very impressed with cottonwood animal hospital in Salt Lake City, UTAH and would recommend them to anyone who truly cares about their animal! Dr. Anderson is also AMAZING and we will ALWAYS have Maddux or any of our other animals go through him from now on for ANY medical needs! :) Highly recommend Cottonwood Animal Hospital! Pros: called me and gave me updates on my puppy twice a day! Cons: NONE more

My vetinary from Dancing Cats perscribed Soloxine .01 mg (1/2 tablet a day) my cat who had Iodine therapy a year ago showed zero thyroid and weighed in at 17.7 pounds, he now had hypothyroid... so she perscribed this along with new food for diabetes due to his weight. My cat bandit had a bad reaction from the drug and he started foaming at the mouth a few hours later. I called Dancing Cats Vet clinic back and she said to do 1/4 tablet for 3 days and go back on the 1/2 tablet which i did as she said... Well, that night my cat who was upstairs on the bed, fell off and started having seizures, it was awful, i tried to call dancing cats and they referred me to Cottonwood Animal hospital after hours clinic. I got there and the Vet Dr. Neal said that in his medical field he never heard about the drug Soloxine causing seizures, that once my cat had seizures he would probably have more..B.S!! The cat never had them and never took drugs in his life!!I decided to put my cat down because of talin more
